LEAD SINGER IS GOERGUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!Must be african american X mexican cross, either way she is beautifull. and can sing like an angel!!!!!!!!! I love the dolls!!
Wow these girls are fantastic! Great vocals and backup harmonies! I admit I never heard of them or this song, but I'm a fan now!! Excellent and I love the video!
What label were they on? Cool song & video. Never heard of them or the song. Expanding my horizons here. Been to much into Mary Wilson & Diana Ross & the rest of those people.. I'm So Proud of mysel,, lol
THE!!!! BEAT was a 1/2 hour syndicated Rhythm & Blues and Soul music TV show out of Nashville, Tennessee. It ran for one year (1966) and all the episodes were in color. THE!!!! BEAT was hosted by pioneering R&B disc jockey Bill "Hoss" Allen who interviewed the artists and kept the proceedings moving along. I didn't write this...I just found it on the net.
Actually this was the b-side, wasn't it? "And That Reminds Me" was the one I heard on the radio. It is available on "60's Girl Groups" on Warners. The year was 1966. It was released on their Loma sub label. Another great tune on that label was "God Bless The Girl And Me" by the Enchanters. Well worth looking for!
That little gal on the right has some attitude. When was this? From the outfits, which I think look great and I wish that look and color would come back again today..I'd say we're looking at '67-68. Anybody know?
@DMZScoutDog Yeah, totally agree with you, ScoutDog. Cool chick, very good tune to begin your career with. She is in control....that appears obvious. Pretty tough to pull off when you're lip-synching...which I think they are....and probably all did back in the day. Man...there was sooo much great music coming at us from every-which-way back then. Artists had a ton of freedom. Not so today...these poor kids have to listen to total bunk. BUNK ...everywhere you turn your radio dial.
Who is the main singer? (To the Far Right?) -God she is so pretty-And, a lovely personality, too! What happened to them? They had a nice sound. AND pretty girls, too
The Dolls were DOLLS!

@garymichael1950 The last episode (with Otis Redding as the host) seems to have been taped some eight months later, though.

They definitely have 'girl group' quality, but, they have a very strong Motown-ish vibe going on - like a link between the two.

@WickedTornado It's from a local Texas show called "The Beat", around January 1966.
SixtiesPopGold 4 months ago
@SixtiesPopGold Well, I was close...saying 67 or 68. From the fashion colors on the gals I didn't think it would be from early '66.
Dang, they'd probably be in their mid sixties in age now. Wonder how they each ended up?
WickedTornado 4 months ago
@SixtiesPopGold what city in Texas?

@Sixtiesfreak Probably from Houston.

@WickedTornado As far as I know the Dolls recorded the song in 1964. (not saying that was when the show was).

@WickedTornado She does have a little "Tude"...I like her though, song's a winner too..
