The Dutch are so lucky to live where they live. They should be proud to live in a country that actually wants to help the environment, wants people to be healthy, and is far more advanced then Australia..
@KrunchyJD The funny thing is, is that the Dutch don't cycle for these reasons and they don't realise how good they have it... until you tell them about it. They just think it's normal - it's fantastic! :)
@nitramluap I dont want to go there on holidays, I would like to live there. I have seen enough, I hate it here in Newcastle Australia, where, people hate cyclists, and make your life hell, in more ways then one. As a shout out, Tell everyone not to go to Newcastle Australia for a cycling holiday, we in Newcastle deserve to be derided as an anti cycling redneck hillbilly idiot place with idiot people and an idiot council. Everyone go to the Netherlands instead, it is obviously better!
@KrunchyJD If you ever get the chance to go there on holiday you won't regret it. I'm sorry to hear that Newcastle is so unpleasant... but your situation is sadly not unique in Australia. Things are changing but so very, very slowly. One of the biggest problems we have here is that the country is really being run by bureaucrats, not politicians, and we can't even vote them out...!!
@nitramluap I recently went up the road from where I live, and saw some lines being painted on the road. I asked the guy working on the road what was going on. He said they are putting in a cycle lane from there to a fair distance away. I was excited. Then I came back and realised that what I thought was the cycle lane was actually the car parking area, and 10 cm beside that was a 80 cm "cycle lane right there in the car door death lane. It is an absolute joke. Newcastle, is crap.
@KrunchyJD Do what I do and write to council and complain about it. Send them images of how to do it properly (ie. Netherlands) and see what happens. I do this all the time and while it might not cause much change at least it makes me feel good :)
@nitramluap I hate to say this,, But-Seattle and area is very much that way. The good thing is there is a change coming for both of our countries. I have enjoyed your channel very much and always look for new post.--OH and joined
@xlnetwork Thanks, Wilfred. It was a pleasure touring your country. All the very best for ROAM in the USA. Can't wait to see stories from the journey.
Lovely video, makes me feel really proud of my country and city!

One day I want to go to the Netherlands as well, it looks like they actually want people to ride bikes, and it looks like a great place.
KrunchyJD 9 months ago
@KrunchyJD You won't regret it. It is the only place where no matter what sort of bicycle you ride you will be respected...
