I just finished watching a documentary of them.. They were stuck in the car on the way to somewhere and the car died and so james headed out to find help but died of hiepothermia and the rest lived... It was very sad :.(
Just saw this on i shouldnt be alive. Sad story): wish he was still with cnet. He went 16 miles tring to save his family and he was found 2 miles from his car. ): RIP
I watched a 2 or 3 hour show on tv about this tragedy. It was heartbreaking going all the way through and then found out that he didn't make it. It was just devistating, and then to see how far he went to save his family. He was an amazing person with a beautiful soul. It's just so sad
I just watched this show call sixth sence it was telling the story of james kim missing family in the wood I was so destroy when I finally hear that james didn't make it I was very sad. James is a very brave man and father to his kids james is just such a great inspiration.
i saw this story last night on the sixth sence and i remember hearing about this 4 years ago, You can tell james loved his family as much as he posibly could he gave his life just 4 the chance he could get them saved
To the Kim family, I'm sorry for your loss. I just watched your story on 20/20. I'm glad to hear the family is doing ok. Will carry survival kit in vehicle for long trips. Again I'm sorry for your loss.
Uhhh I just seen this on 20/20 I'm so sorry to hear hat happened to James I'm glad that Kim and the daughters still were able to make it. I hope the family has been able to recover and will keep moving forwards. May god be with you!
I watched the recent TV documentary and a few years back read about James in I think People Magazine. It's real sad and a shock when it happened. James actually reviewed some software on my site when he worked for Tech TV. He really helped my business and he didn't even know it. Thanks James. I wish the best for your wife and kids. I'm also going to put together a special emergency kit and throw it in our van just in case.
i knew him as the guy with a mole near his lip and for giving good reviews at cnet (he stood out from the other reviewers for some reason) i was really sad when i found out he died trying to save his family, rip
damn, I was just rememebring him right now. I'd always read his reviews before buying pretty much any MP3 player, then one day I was just listening to the TV while doing homework and I heard his name.
I heard that he died and thought "WTF!?!?!? that can't be!"
I know i didn't know him personally or anything, but I was way sad when I found out he died.
Too often, good men die....RIP James Kim, may your soul watch over your family as a guardian and may your spirit be filled with righteousness as you look down upon your family from up above.
Rip James, for some reason I woke this morning remembering you, hearing about you in the news back then, and how sad I had felt. I never met you, only knew you from the news. You were a great man, who loved his family very much. Rip.
James Kim died as a hero trying to save his family. RIP.
For anyone else with a family who travels in winter, or in mountains, consider getting a PLB (Personal Locator Beacon). About the size of a deck of cards, it will sit in your glovebox for 11 years on a single battery, and when you activate it, will transmit your exact GPS coordinates via satellite to NOAA, and they will (24x7) notify the local Search and Rescue authorities with your position. 600 bucks. Google "PLB".
I've been following the search for James since I heard of it several days ago... I'm in Miami, so it took a while. Nevertheless, I prayed for him and his family to get home safely, and although tragically James was lost (I have shed so many tears for him and the tragic way we lost him), he is a TRUE hero in my eyes. Thankfully his family is alive, showing how selfless he was leaving them so the only life at risk was his. Many should learn from his bravery.
This was the worst thing that I have ever felt since Steve Irwin. This was just as tragic for me. I'm in high school, and when I found out about his death at school, I was about to cry, but was somehow able to hold it in. That's how sad I'am, and believe me, I've never cried at school.
My deepest condolences to the family and friends of James. I've watched many of his videocasts on Cnet - his charisma, slight wit, and enthusiasm demanded and trust and respect. The greatest assets in a company are its staff, and James Kim, whom I learned to trust and respect is, for me, the face of Cnet. I also trust the company will ensure his wife and children are looked after in a way that pays tribute to the legacy James leaves behind. God bless.
My Prayers go out to the Kim family. This is such a sad day and a big lost to the world. I did not Know James Kim. But one thing I do Know is he is a Hero in my Book. He is a real Man and he loved his family so much that he lost his on life to save them. We need More people like James in this world. God Bless
James Kim has all touched our lives. His passion for his job and life was truly an inspiration and we will never see his presense again. I feel so fucking sorry i can't even imagine what his family is going through right now. I wish someone else had died and not him. His death is just so wrong. To his wife and childrens i will say prayers that hopefully you will get through this and see light again. Thank you james kim for being born and we will miss u forever.
I was optimistic that he would be okay... I'm just devastated. I didn't even know them. I just can't think of little Penny's last memory of her dad being like this. That Kati knew her husband may have been sacrificing his life for them. I wish it didn't end like this. But the rescuers did a great job, and at least the other three are alive. At least they can have closure now.
he's known for risking his life in order to increase his family's chances of survival in 20 degree nights. he fucking froze to death, not knowing if his family was going to survive.
I was horrified when i refreshed the cnettv site, and i still am. I just can't believe it and probably never will, he will always be alive in our hearts. R.I.P.
Even though i have not met this james i could tell he was a great guy. When i heard the news i started to cry. This video couldnt even finish because its so hard to watch and know hes gone now. Rest in peace james. rest in peace
Yes she does you horrible person. She is Veronica Belmont and she was the host with James of the MP3 Insider Podcast. She also is a co-worker and friend of him. I find your lack of humanity appalling in her time of pain.
James Kim is gone. Although I know that hindsight is 20/20, I think that the rescuers figured that Kim was suffering from hypothermia when they found his pants...it's common for people to remove clothing when suffering from hypothermia, because they feel hot. Probably, Kim passed away Monday or Tuesday. This is one of the most depressing and troubling news stories I've heard recently. I sincerely wish the Kim family well and pray for their future. R.I.P. James Kim.
Thank God the daughters and mother were found! Now, I hope and pray that James would be found. My thoughts and prayers sincerely go out to the Kim family in this trying time.
Praying for James, great news for the family so far.
Not to be a twat, but did anybody listen to the audio at the end of this video? For the love of god, man, get yourself a new job. that woman is a control-freak bitch. 30 seconds is much better than 26, my ass.
Oh I am hoping so much that your friends come home safely. They are in my thoughts, as are all of their friends and family who are searching for them. I send you my best hopes.
Oh my gosh, I used to watch this guy on Tech TV!! NOOOO!!! I hope him and his family are okay...oh man, I hope they are safe somewhere. I will keep them in my prayers. :(
I hope James and his family come back to us soon. He is truely a great human being, and would sorely be missed. Veronica, my prayers go out for you too, as I am sure you are fraught with worry. I pray that this has a happy conclusion.
