  • Haha--in the lifetimes of our grandchildren "harsh cold and perpetual snow could turn large portions of our planet into an unhabitable desert". What a crock! We'd better fire up the coal-fired electricity generation to stop the next ice-age . . . . Thank heavens for the Chinese and their coal-fired power plants.

  • hold on--this scientist from Colorado was quoting stats from the 1970s about the extreme cold temperatures--what about the data we keep seeing that this is the warmest century on record. Shows how much we get for supporting these idiot scientists who have no clue and spent years and years trying to predict the weather--hahaha

  • IF we DID Prevent this with global warming, HOW LONG DO YOU GUYS THINK OUR FUELS WILL LAST?? its still bound to happen.

  • Hmmm... who to believe... Leonard Nimoy or Al Gore... How about neither.

  • 1:02-1:08

A lizard is crawling across the screen at the lower left hand corner

Obviously running away from the encroaching glaciers.

  • I like the uploaders' description of the 'In Search of..' series,

    "a spine-tingling presentation of quasi-facts" (laughter)

no lie tho,.. 'In Search of' initiated my lifelong curiosity into the mysterious & mystical.

  • FUD always sells, no matter the age.

  • thank goodness "global warming" saved us all -- oh, wait -- it's gonna kill us all :P

  • actually supossedly global warming would cause an ice age melting ice would cool the oceans and in turn that would cool the whole planet

  • ONLY! uneducated welfare trash(democrats) believe the man made global warming ERR cooling ERR warming ERR climate change SCAM!

  • I'm in Buffalo right now and its still snowing :)

  • Farmer's Almanac: Global cooling to continue

Most of the country will see a colder-than-usual winter while summer and spring will be relatively cool and dry, according to the time-honored, complex calculations of the "Old Farmer's Almanac."

The 2011 issue of the almanac, which claims to be the nation's oldest continuously published periodical, was released Tuesday. It predicts that in the coming months, the Earth will continue to see a "gradual cooling of the atmosphere"

  • 2007 Year of Global Cooling

    Washington Times

Al Gore says global warming is a planetary emergency. It is difficult to see how this can be so when record low temperatures are being set all over the world. In 2007, hundreds of people died, not from global warming, but from cold weather hazards.

  • @Dayversion All Gore stands to make billions from pedaling his crap. Not bad for a failed politician.

  • Hmmm, an impending nuclear war could produce such an Ice Age or another natural one could emerge.

  • @jaxzurr I believe an impending super volcano could well usher in a volcanic winter. Do some research in2 the yellowstone caldera!~

  • The science was settled!

  • It is on its way, just look back to when the last major ice age was and when the last civilisation was screwed up, core samples and rock samples will tell you what and when...the people dont give a shit or are that full of alternate stories they dont know what to think they just carry on.A mile of ice over any civilasation like ours will turn it into minerals, you wont find much, maybe a few stone remains or the odd radioactive pipe, does that give you lot a clue? Sorry but your all going to die

  • SO..do i need a coat or not? ha! cold..then hot..then,change maybe..who knows.

    Stop the new world order!

    kev UK

  • Sure... warmth is the reason theres 5 billion people, however every other species has maintained and regulated their population perfectly. There are WAY more factors involved

  • the 2009-2010 winter in uk and ireland was the coldest in records

  • I still hear some scientists teaching this coming ice age.

  • sorry to alarm you all but we are now going into a new ice age. the recent warming is just the death throws of the last 200 year warm period. these forces are far stronger than carbon in the atmosphere. google maunder minimum, little ice age, and la ninia. then you will not think this is funny.

  • Funny how the solutions for both Cooling and Warming are the same - put ash all over the glaciers and icefields near the Poles. LOL! There were multiple articles in Newsweek, Science, and Nature throughout the 70s about Ice Ages and Global Cooling - this show is just a popularization of the Global Cooling meme that was spreading during that time. Paul Ehrlich also advocated global cooling, before he became a global warming nut.

  • @ResisterCIO sorry to alarm you all but we are now going into a new ice age. the recent warming is just the death throws of the last 200 year warm period. these forces are far stronger than carbon in the atmosphere. google maunder minimum, little ice age, and la ninia. then you will not think this is funny.

  • @kargenlewis

You are correct the maunder minimum will create a little ice age in about 10 years but a little ice age is nothing compared to the end of interglacial period we are in.

The scary part is the predicted little ice age could be the trigger for glaciation we really don't know.

But for those that are global alarmist with their head up their you know what.

the first signs we should be looking for is very dry weather. Cold brings dry weather. which most will die from starvation.

  • Sorry Spock and Stephen H. Schneider, the end-of-the-word, Global Cooling, Global Warming, Climate Change scams are grinding to a halt....

  • @DrGeneSquatt

The problem is Spock is mostly correct. We are in an interglacial period in the middle of technically an Ice age. We are living during the second longest interglacial period during this ice age. It can come anytime between this next little ice age to about 2000 years from now we do not know when.

  • So what's next after "global warming" is no longer the flavor of the month, Global dusting?

  • Thank you for posting this. Thank you, thank you.

  • ice is better than heat!

  • I'll take the middle.

  • Come to Norway and say that.

  • @thenoobzors

as far as survival of people and animals heat is far superior. More heat means more rain.. more rain means good crops. Ice means nearly no water no crops.

  • @OxAO errr no ice

Is ice not just frozen warter .:)

  • OK...with all this science, and satellites, an Professors, and equipment....can someone at least tell me in which direction, I should be headed (north or south)....and can I expect to burst into flames or freeze to death.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Answer 1 ) Geologists look at what climate did, climatologists (at present) look at what their models tell them the "reality" they model will do. Which do you trust - it's a no brainer for me - Geologists.

Answer 2) Fashions come and go in 30 year (ish) cycles. We do not have a clue, just the latest fashion. - I never have followed fashion. It is a great sadness politicans and people generally do.

  • maybe global warming and an ice age will cancel each other out

  • @wallddog

10 years we should expect a little ice age which means go south if your in the US. North if your in Australia. :)

  • I guess there was no money in Global Cooling.

  • The opening credits depicted here are not the ones I remember as a kid. Are these the "repackaged" episodes? If so...when did these air? The beginnings reek of the 90's. Anyone know?

  • These are VHS TV rips from the History Channel re-broadcast in the late 90's... low quality I know, but better than nothing ;)

Also be glad that most of these aren't the A&E re-broadcasts (early 90's), which have a really chintzy intro and also lack any scenes showing Leonard due to contractual issues...

Check Wikipedia for more info and detailed episode guide :)

  • @beautystruck Live long and Prospere, if you can that is.. :)

  • Sweeet ,, good old spock...

  • At the end of this video in Part 3, you'll see Climate Change superstar Stephen Schneider. He's gone from Global Cooling Alarmist ---> Global Warming Alarmist ----> Climate Change Alarmist. But his message in this Global Cooling video has changed, before he was worried that the cure could be worse than the disease. Now apparently he's not.

  • Climate Experts.

    Huahuahauahaahhaa!!!!

bububu, global warming... oops.. i mean man made global climate change.

  • "what scientists are telling us now is that the threat of an ice age is not as remote as they once thought. during the lifetime of our grandchildren arctic cold and perpetual snow could turn most of the inhabitable portions into a polar desert" - and then it warmed up ;)

this is the same line used 4 climate change wiv a few changes. i almost choked wen i hard that.

evidently a test run 2 see how malleable the public was. sadly i think mass mind control is needed, as climate changes all d time

  • notice how they mention population, 5 billion...too many of course, overpopulation.

yes 6 billion is FARRR to many for our little planet. we are like a virus that needs eradicating.

we'll either freeze this fragile planet or incinerate it.

strange how this planets" fragile climate" has survived asteroid impacts, supervolcanoes, massive solar flares, gamma ray bursts, etc etc but our car engines are just a little too much

  • @reallycoolman2003

You can be the first to go.

  • The global warming scam passed by Congress. Goldman Sachs is in the middle of it, as usual a potential trillion dollar sure thing.

And Former Vice President Al Gore who will profit from the cap-and-trade plan through his company, Generation Investment Management,

Gore is joined by three former Goldman Sachs heads in their carbon offsets business.

  • @RomeoMD25

Actually, global cooling or a new ice age was never a part of the scientific consensus - it was a fringe possibility at best, shot down at the peer review process.

Anyway, In Search Of... was a series that speculated whether Ancient Egyptians knew the secret of immortality. I'd hardly point to them as a weather vane on serious scientific consensus.

  • @CristinaFernandez

If Spock is so wrong as you say why are we worried about Global warming during the middle of Technically an Ice Age?

Problem is spock was mostly correct here. He only made a small mistake. that is we do live in the middle of an ice age.

  • history does repeat itself

  • "...hunger and death on a scale unprecedented in all of history..." Sounds familiar doesn't it? But at least - for an ice age - that would be true! If global warming was actually true we would be headed for paradise with longer growing seasons, more rain, less disease, etc. (maybe fewer polar bears but is that a bad thing? They eat people!).

  • OMG we are all going to freeze to death!.

Oh wait I watched this when I was 8, it gave me nightmares.

Good thing I am not an 8 year old right now or I might believe that the world was going to freeze to death or was that burn to death?

  • @Captolamia

    Freeze.

We are in an Ice Age believe it or not.

  • Compare to today.

Same communist puppet masters, same ominous music, same guilt inducing narration, exactly opposite prophesy.

  • @Wwallace67 Communist puppet masters? Guilt-inducing narration?

Maybe it's just a tendency for people to see patterns and trends in data. After all, there are only two general directions in which the earth's average temperature can go - to say that we don't know enough to say for sure is probably the best answer, but it's just human nature for people to want to say the future's going to go in one direction or the other...doesn't mean that there's a "puppet master" anywhere.

  • @supery00n Hey wallace! Your house is on fire!!! Watching as you run to put it out. Oh wait wallace, your house is flooding!!! Watching as wallace runs to move his furniture to higher ground. Oh wait wallace, your house is on fire!!! Watching as wallace grabs the garden hose. Oh wait wallace......LOL Chicken Little Just kidding

  • In 1977 I moved to Wyoming. Oh, yeah it was bad. snowstorm in July.

  • In 1977 I was busting through WY snow drifts shovel in hand trying to get the motion sensors reset at our missile sites.

  • lmao. but but but but but leonard nimoy says it it has to be true right? he's Spock!

  • in the 70's this was all the rage.they tried to scare us with cold in the 70's.Now it's heat

  • @smithdsmit sorry to alarm you all but we are now going into a new ice age. the recent warming is just the death throws of the last 200 year warm period. these forces are far stronger than carbon in the atmosphere. google maunder minimum, little ice age, and la ninia. then you will not think this is funny.

  • @kargenlewis I never said I thought that it wAS funny. My Point was that they used to tell us it was getting colder. when that didnt scare us enough. they started saying its gettting hotter

  • @smithdsmit i thought everyone knew the climate changes.. how silly of me

  • @smithdsmit Absolutely, the public is 80% retard, therefore easily convinced of any old bullshit
