I like your videos and your teaching style. However, in this case, I would like to differ with you on a few points:
1) I'd mount it the other-way-round, with the spur drive pounded into the bark edge.
2) I'd also suggest aligning it so the bark edge is perpendicular to the lathe
3) Most important, I' always teach people to put the rest at 45 degrees, and cut arcs from foot towards rim for initial shaping. Beginners that try to bang away at those corners won't have much fun!

Is there any reason why you didnt round it out with a bandsaw refore mounting it
