Most of the DMC competitions are so boring and technical nowadays. Craze chose records with actual music on them. He used a break record or two, but the set was pretty much real hip hop and electro 12"s. Plus the whole beatbox juggle at the beginning with the "it's the brand new thing they call the human beatbox Craze" from Biz Markie is so dope.

A lot of the comments have called him an artist, and I couldn't agree more. He's creating something that is uniquely him and expressing it in a way that only he could. That's art whether the end product is better or worse than other art. I think too many DJs forget that expressing themselves is more important than flawless technique.

The reason Craze is so fucking amazing is becuase he's on point. He keeps the rhythm going. A lot of DJs just scratch shit up, juggle, and trick without actually making any sense. You get a lot of cross noise that just sounds all kinds of fucked up.

@elspoko That is a very good observation. I am an old enough to remember when DMC first started. Each and everyone of the DMC champions, maybe with the exception of Rock Steady DJ and QBert/MM, all pretty much did the same thing - show they can juggle and body tricks, diss, scratch and sometimes gimmick. This changed when Craze arrive on the scene. He did everything - juggle, body tricks, scratch, diss BUT he added composition. He was a musician performing on the stage.
