that is a sweet rifle. i had a litle cricket rifle i baught new from wall mart. and shot less than 100 rounds throught it ,and it wouldnt eject shells. they wouldnt replace it even though it was 4 days old. i called the manufactors and told them about it. they shipped it back to the manufactor and gave me a stainless barrel for my troubles. i had it back in less than 10 days free of chrage.
I use the BSA Sweet 17 6-18x40 it has a longer mounting area and you can move the scope closer to your eye. the ballistics of the Sweet 17 6-18x40 are set up for the 17gr bullet not for the 20 grain. I did notice a difference shooting both rounds. I hav found that the Hornady 17gr Vmax works perfect with this scope
the sweet 17 scope can shoot under 100 yd. you have to turn the Elevation turret clockwise from 100yd zero. When you zero it @100yd and reset the turret to the 100yd mark, Then you shoot it @ ranges from 75,50,25 yards if it needs adjustment click the turret clockwise till it is zero @ the yardage you are shooting. take note of how many clicks from the 100yd mark. example. 1 click clockwise from 100 yds. equals 75yds and so on. you can also make a reference mark on the turret. hope that helps
It was a failure to feed magazine issue. I have one of these and shot sub moa with Winchester v max 17gr these seem to out shoot any of the other rounds I have shoot so far. I have shot more then a few squirrels out of trees with it, and more then a few out as far as a 150 yards. Mr Greatshot apparently has never had his rifle out in the woods. My savage 17 has taken over as my favorite rifle. I have good glass a Leupold 4 x 14 x 52 30mm tube gold ring Glass is everything!
Hi Mr Greatshot, I was just wondering what the exact problem was with the 93r17 BVSS hmr 17? I am having problems when trying to eject spent shell case after firing. 2 or 3 spent casings per clip are stuck inside .. and not ejecting out so that another bullet my be shot. Was just wondering if you knew or had problems with what i am describing... Thanks man , your videos are great!
@MrGreatshot - Oh I see .. Thanks for responding . I have not been back on youtube to check my account . Sorry. I have since figured out that my Savage was having problems ejecting Remington 17 hmr shells only . I was trying all brands to see what the rifle digested best. Thanks again.
i had a problem with my 93r bvss, exactly the same rifle you are holding up,the dealer went way beyond and out of his way to fix the problem,i can not praise savage enough for what they done for my son's rifle.contact me it might have been the same problem,i might be able to shed some light.
hay buddy was your old gun the thumb hole wooden stock model R17F. because this is the model i have now and i just put 150rounds through it. and was wonder if i have to worry about the same thing. Because i really like my savage.
@WhitetailBowmaster i dont think so but i like stainless better because it dosnt rust as easily and i dont think it rubs off like the bluing does on the back barrels so i like it better and if it does rub off its not as noticable INO
decide...22Mag and .17Mag......got .22 cleaner kill got more meat from a game!
Ammunition .17 little higher but don't care....stay with .22MAG by Marlin for NOW..I hate gun without fire sight, feeling like a handicap...Not need scope over 300 yards every body..sport..challenge..Not war, not need a sniper!!!
hey im looking at buy a savage 17HMR and what size uhhh, fuck whats it called, like the scope mount where the rings attach to the gun, Is it like the size on a .22 or like the standard size. (sorry if its confusing)
im thinkin about buyin a savage 93r17 glv which is a lefty do u think it would sitll be as as good or not cus i have never owned a bolt action and dont know much about guns in general plz respond
well i've been n ur situation b4, i am going to tell you right now im only 15 and a lefty too but i dont wanna sound braggy but i know alot about guns my buddy has been in the tac team and bomb squad so i know a bit.. it really depends on the purpose you use it for. the real difference in these two guns is the weight and if you are planning to get a glv, that would be a great carry around walking gun, if u r going 2 sit with your gun i highly suggest this btvs, i own 1 also, so same gun diff lbs
My X gf has the same gun, it shot alright from what I could tell. Her scope was way off and she didn't take care of it for shit though but at least she liked guns. Was about the only thing she was good for lol. But she just abused this thing. Never cleaned it in like 6 months. I broke a 17cal brush cleaning this thing. The barrel was blued and was starting to rust. The scope was dusty and abused lol. Needless to say I never let her near my guns. But it seemed to shoot pretty well.
The people that assemble these rifles live in Canada..and don't know about fit and finish quality on firearms..thats the only thing I can think of...This one seems to working better.
Its a "goodthing" you received compliments on that rifle, Im sure as a woman, thats about the ONLY compliments you ever received...

Elevation adjustment only goes as low as 100 yards because there is no drop before 100 yards.
