  • Okay, call it unprofessional or obscene, but I think one of the best resume tips I've heard of lately is a guy that attaches a $20 bill to every resume he sends out. Yes, most are offended by it, but none of them mail the money back to him! The few that are impressed turn out to have a great sense of humor and hire him for freelance work again and again. He wants to be hired by employers who understand that he is trying to get noticed. His financial return on those $20 bills? Priceless.

  • ...and another thing. Years ago I decided to apply to some big ad agencies as a writer. I wanted my resume to stand out, to get noticed. They were getting flooded with resumes, in fact, it was rumored that they had a fax machine for resumes that fed the printed page directly into a paper shredder. :)

What I did was to send my resume in a mailing tube, and had a bike messenger deliver it. My resume got noticed and I did get called and got work.

  • Good video. I have 25,000 hours of experience on movie productions, but no college degree in my profession. I've been told to simply lie and say I do have a film degree, to be taken more seriously. Or, to shrink my resume down. I was told to state that I have much less experience than I actually do. Curious what your thoughts are. Oh, I notice the bookshelf behind Kade. There are many books from the series "... For Dummies". Perhaps it's time we stop thinking of ourselves as "dummies".
