@osensei2987 Yup! Kancho Ninomiya was student of Kancho Ashihara for about 20 years, first under the kyokushin style and later under the Ashihara Karate Kai Kan...
@anthonysmith73 i bought this DVD from ebay.just check ebay everyday and you will see.also ashihara hideyuki made 2 dvds(videos) during 1988 i bought this DVDs from hossain narker south africa ashihara karate.
Ashihara can probably be described as a more intelligent, advanced form of kyokushin. However, it must be said that the best kyokushin teachers and fighters also teach and use the sabaki method. The same goes for those who train and teach shidokan, seidokan, .... good full contact karate always incorporates circular movement.
I wouldn't call it more intelligent, just Kyokushin with a twist. It's not the style but the teacher, as you mentioned. Ashihara had the courage to break away from Kyokushin so he had to make it different somehow, hence highlighting the area of sabaki which is as much a part of Kyokushin, just not really taught as well.
yes, BUT, the old philosophy of kyokushin kai was to move forward, always, constantly, confront head -on, in contrary to the sabaki method. Kyokushin kai works better if you are bigger/stronger, but sometimes need to use technique instead of pure stamina.
Kenka karate was a nickname for kyokushin back when Ashihara was still a kyokushin fighter.
Although back in the day it was used by more art focused styles as a derogatory remark on the type of fighting karate that is kyokushin and now Ashihara karate, it was not really taken as such :-)
Basically it means that it is karate for fighting, not for looking pretty.
Ashihara and Joko Ninomiya -the founder of enshin both became famous in kyokushin during the 70ies, when ashihara broke out of Kyokushin 1980 joko joined him as second in command. In 1988 Ninomiya broke out of Ashihara to found enshin karate.
Very unlikely. Ashihara Karate is very different from the traditional styles of Goju-ryu, for example. That beeing said, there are several open tournaments where different styles compete under the same rules.
Also, Ashihara Karate is constantly evolving, and does find inspiration from all karate styles, judo, boxing etc.
Kancho Ashihara was one of the greatest inovetors of Jissen Kumite! I visited the Hombu Dojo in Ehime, Japan about 5 years ago. I have a great picture of this great facility.
Idiotas... o Karate é a mesma coisa... experimentem aplicar o Shotokan para vocês verem o resultado! Não vai sobrar ninguém, nem do Ashihara, nem no Oyama, nem do Muay Thai...

i read or heard somewhere that Ashihara does not have as much kata as the kyokushin still has .
As far as my understanding goes , Ashihara puts focus on kumite ,rather then kata .
Please correct me if i misunderstand ,

Joko Ninomiya formed Enshin, based on Kyokushin kai, ala Ashihara, with a dash of Judo thrown in for good measure.
