At least I can say I experienced Dutch bicycle riding, being 9 & older in the late '60s. I guess I was in the country somewhat, living in Baarn.

I want to go to the Netherlands in that time. Right now, it seems so scary, so I'd prefer Flanders.

@AmersfoortTristan Not really the politics. The Netherlands is a magnificent country, but what bothers me somehow are incidents like the murders of Theo van Gogh and Pim Fortuyn. I'm sorry if I sounded kinda offensive.

@jaguarjaguarjaguarja They were a couple of years ago and things are stable at the moment. You know.. we don't have a history for political murder here (frankly the murder on Fortuyn was the first political murder in over 330 years !) and it shocked Dutch a lot more then it could possibly shock any foreigner.
But yes.. it's alright :) I hate hearing people equating my country with some kind of an hellhole...
