  • Fuuuuuukkkkkkkk yeaaaaah!!!!

  • LOL to James chainsaw between 7:37-7:42

  • yeah because the somgs ARE a bit similar in their structure. The same as fade to black. First the soft intro by James, then Kirk starts his intro solo that leads to the clean verse played by James. The Chorus is heavy again. And the second half is a kind of heavy solo with some vocals.

  • The intro to this song is so badass.

  • It's my birthday :)

    great show !!

  • whats the song at the intro

  • Hey guys what is the music from the beginning of the video?

  • @DarsGuitar He can do it, it's tuned down to Eb on tour to help preserve his voice for the rest of the tour so they wont have to cancel.....

  • I no

  • yes, it's definitely out of tune ;P but it isn't their worst performance of this song :P

  • The sound on the mainstage last year was awful.

  • 1:23 - 1:55 iv been going to leeds fest VIP style for 4 years now and iv never been on them rides i wanna this year though :D

  • Coñooo..

Porque siempre que Kirk sta empezando a hacer el solo nunca lo enfocan? Jodaaa..

  • THIS EFFING ROCKS

  • 5:24-5:28...what does that pose remind you of?!

  • the crow was so lame

    they didnt cheer...

    Shame on u guys

  • the crow was so lame

    they didnt cheer...

  • Nice. I wish they could have stayed young forever tho.

  • a bit slow at the start, but otherwise awesome song

  • it should be slow at the beggining have you dont listened to the song on the album??

  • i know its slow at the start. i shouldnt of used the word slow. i meant that you can tell its live.

  • lindo ...

  • metal!

  • it's not exacly metal...it's slow rythm metal.

(sr my english r not very good)

  • how is it not exactly metal if you just said its slow rhythmic metal?

  • The Day That Never Comes kinda remindes me of One....eny buddy agree with meh?????

  • @soccergod1424 Yeah damn right, and All Nighmare Long reminds me a bit of And Justice For All. Starts smooth, kick ass riffs 2 times, Solo kicks in slowly but still fuckwen epic, then the riffs again and an outro solo. Don't you think so ? ;)

  • @soccergod1424 totally it starts slow and sweet then gets fast and mean

  • @soccergod1424 Yep, starts out slow, picks up, kick ass solos, trill guitar........nuf said. This song gives me the chills

  • yep

  • Ugh. For me the jury's still out on this song. The album is good, and they do play this song better than I had imagined.

  • i've noticed metallica mess up quite alot live

  • Guitar SnakeBite.I love Metallica but you are right. I dont understand why they play like that.

  • im so glad metallica is back death magnetic fucking rules its bttr then the black album imo

  • The Day That Never Comes,Welcome Home(SANITARIUM),Fade To Black,One and The Unforgiven are all the same

  • yeah, that made sense :)

  • God > Kirk Hammit > Jesus.

  • ever ...!

  • God > Metallica > Jesus

  • Fuckin magic:)

  • Rob is so badass!!! :D

  • Esta es la mejor cancion de metallica

  • this song is the best of the album

  • not the best sounds

    they are disturbet

  • dude im goin to one this monday the 26th in the allstate arena. i got my ticket like september or august

  • lucky take me lol

  • lol. they are gona me here monday and tuesday. where u from. im from cicero

  • be where

  • Sweeet...Lovin the Nova Scotia flag @ the front of the stage!!!!

  • kirk wears always the seam shirt XD

  • lol

  • it´s not like he´s got just one shirt..

so not like the few pairs of underwear he had when then were younger xD

  • o yea and metallica opened concerts for testament but you wont here that from the fucking media

  • Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying Metallica are perfect, god knows they've got flaws. I'm not a metallica nut swinger, I'm just saying they don't do things that much differently from other bands, they just get in more shit because they're bigger so it's a bigger deal.

  • o and i forgot to mention lars has only one drum beat... simple because thats all he can do, he sucks... the only song he gets after it is creeping death live version ofcourse..

  • True he doesn't have much variety. But neither does any thrash or metal band with few exceptions. Look at pantera, slayer, anthrax, megadeth etc,. THey all have like 2 different beats that they play for fast songs, and two for slow songs. Metallica's the same. Lars always uses either the main master of puppets beat, or the main battery beat. For slow songs he uses the same beat always. Thats no different from other major players in the thrash bizz.

  • no no...pantera was better in every way and had veriety, u might wanna go back and lission again.... variety u say... in metal well just look at trivium, he has a great voice and can scream, not the same beat like tallica, ALL THAT REMAINS is a perfect example of variety...killswich engage...demon hunter... blabla the list goes on and on, so sorry your wrong on that one buddy!

  • Pantera uses the same 4 beats that Metallica does which is why I mentioned pantera to begin with so you're wrong there. Trivium and demon hunter aren't even really metal to begin with they're that new age nu metal bull shit. I'm surprised you didn't mention slipknot while you were. Killswitch is not a bad band, but there drummer sucks. Being able to do weird double kick patterns doesn't help that the guy cant do shit with his hands. Your un educated mind is boring me so this is my last reply.

  • slipknot while you were at it*

  • trivium is not metal? O YEA THAT RIGHT THERE FUCKING COUNTRY MUSIC U FUCK HED!!! Joey from slip not is one of the best in my thoughts, but hey they went radio and have the same sound as every one else and kse drummer does not suck dumbshit....maby you have to be able to play music to understand that i dont know... i play the drums, guitar and piano...and i know kse drummer doesnt suck. Machine heads drummer puts most to shame if you see a real drummer watch him or Lamb of gods drummer..geezz

  • I've been a drummer and guitarist for 11 years. KSE's drummer ONLY has good feet. the shit he does with his hands is bland as shit. Joey is not a bad drummer, but slipknot sucks. THey are nu metal and so is trivium. NU METAL SUCKS. And I know, lamb of gods drummer is great. I never said he wasnt. Machine head I'm not familliar with so I can't really say, but nu metal is more about double kick and image than music. SLipknot may have a good drummer, but there guitarists blow.

  • im sory dude trivium is not new metal.. new meal licks ballsacks skindread is new metal shit and its horable

  • if trivium is nu metal, then what is shadows fall, in flames, and soilwork? last time i checked nu metal included korn, not even close. and if vinny paul uses the same beats as lars, why has vinny been invited to the modern drummer festival while lars has been left out?

  • KSE real metal???? OMG LOL. they're good, but they're more hardcore, like god forbid. nevermore is closer to dark/goth/epic metal and hardly deserves a "real" vote. staind--rock/hard rock. quit googling band classifications and listen to them.

  • hardcore, epic etc, is still real metal. THe only kind of shit that isn't is nu metal and that gay emo/metal fusion style. I'm not googling shit. I'm just saying, they are by most people considered metal, but they're awful nu metal if anything.

  • quite commentting u dont know shit about music....

  • thats true yeti8102 lars has and never will be invited to the drum festival because hes just not that good, lol

  • "and if vinny paul uses the same beats as lars, why has vinny been invited to the modern drummer festival while lars has been left out?" - Because Lars has gotten sloppy as shit live as he's become an idiot and stopped practicing. Look at THese three drum beats. Battery Verse. Creeping death verse, and Nothing else matters verse. Almost every metal song in uses one of those three beats. There may be double kick, or fills but it's those three core beats. Thats pantera, slayer, all but death metal

  • REAL metal: MEtallica, Judas Priest, Pantera, Testament, Nevermore, Lamb of God, KSE.

Nu Metal pussy shit: Korn, Slipknot, Trivium, Bullet for my valentine, demon hunter, stained, deftones.

  • Real meatal?? meatllica has not been metal since the 80s dude stained is soft radio rock jesus go learn music before u reply again

  • Death magnetic is DEFINATELY a metal album? Have you heard all nightmare long and judas kiss and shit like that? It's just like there old shit. and stained is classified as metal. I personally wouldn't call them metal, but that is what they're classified as. But there all about posing to LOOK tougher than they are, they wouldn't know talent if it bit them in the ass. In other words...nu metal. They aren't even that soft. Only there singles are. They've got just as many hard n fast tunes though.

  • the only son i liked off the new tallica cd was the song that had no words. i cant rember the song name cuz i through the cd away but it was a decent song, not near as good as orion was

  • lol I call bull shit, you never bought the cd. If you hate metallica so much why would you waste your money and buy the cd. And the instrumental you speak of is the lamest track on the cd except for the day that never comes. Even cyanide was better than BBS

  • yes dumbshit i bought the cd in mo. when i was traviling across country, then through it out the window.

  • "Metallica has not been real metal since the 80's" Why buy a cd for a band that you haven't liked in almost 20 years? And further more if you heard the entire cd, and hated it, why would you bother posting even once on a video for a song from that album?

  • quite with the metallica/godsmack bullshit about 3.5 years ago when i hear as i lay dying, and trivium, and said o i lission to horse shit, through away and gave away all my cds, and quite lissionning to the radio, all it is is bullshit, i lissioned to the new cd over and over from mo, to virginia beach coundnt find anything good about it and like i said through it out the window! please dude dont think u know more about meatallica then me.. my life use to revolve around them.

  • Jesus, What grade have you completed? Your grammar is horrid.

  • dude r u saying you hate jesus or he did a bad job ya no jesus never does a bad job srsly

  • I'm not dogging you by any means, but the bands you've listed are not far off from trivium. hard to believe someone would like pantera, KSE, old metallica, but not trivium, buy hey to each his own opinion. Yes many thrash/metal bands use the same kick beat, but there's only so much you can do, unless your chris adler LOL. vinny pauls hands have carried him, which i think are fairly underrated. fine, you hate trivium's drummer, can metallica at least higher Brann Dailor??

  • and to bring up something you mentioned earlier....how is kerry king shitty? hes came up w/ some of the BEST riffs outside of Dime. Psychopathy Red is another example that age shouldn't be a valid excuse, he kills it in that song. People dislike Slayer cuz Tom's vocals have been over-repetative since the 80's but Kerry manages to continuously come up w/ hooks, riffs, and solos that blow me away! With that, please don't tell me that Ian Scott sucks too??

  • Well, I don't know if you are a musician at all or not, but kerry king sucks because he doesn't actually know what he's doing. His solo's are out of key, he's very sloppy live much as lars is, with the exception of maybe 6 songs, his guitar riffs are as repetetive as phil rudds drumming. There's only so many times you can have a good song with open e string triplets and a bunch of pinch harmonics. Don't get me wrong, slayer doesn't suck. Just Kerry King.

  • fix my typo, Scott Ian*

  • actually until this post I didn't even see the bit about scott ian :P lol and no I've got nothing against him. He's very cool to his fans I like that.

  • don't generalize chris adler into that "basic metal beat" category though :). he has THE most complex kicks i've ever heard, blow jason bittner's out the water. Those two have broken from the metal drummers mold as well as Brann Dailor, who had the fastest hands I've seen.

  • Jeff Hanneman is much better than king. WHen it comes to guitarists for any form of rock. Be it metal, punk or what ever. Kirk Hammette, Kerry King, Jimmy paige, and ace frehley are the absolute most over rated guitarists in history.

  • you forgot about slasher he sucks

  • oh blah I can't believe i forgot about him. Very true. Infact I'd say slash is number 1 for over rated. Sweet Child of Min is the only song that has anything special in it because it's the only song that isnt a wah induced blues solo.Much like hammetts load and re load stuff. TO much wah and blues, not enough thought.

  • oh and zakk wylde is pretty over rated too. He's not bad though. Like he's damn good, but he's just no where near as good as people make him out to be.

  • ouhhhh noooooo nooooooo zakk is badass yes he has an image but he is very very good at what he does you shit head i outa kick yoir ass for saying that !!!!!

  • dude re read my comment,I said he's damn good. He's just not AS good as alot make him out to be. People make him out like he's THE metal guitarist. And he's not.

  • hes ONE of them

  • i don't know about that. zakk has been a pillar of metal since ozzy was forced to replace randy. ozzy's no slouch for talent either, judging by his previous lineups. but yes there are better, just like mustaine.

  • back to topic, lars just doesn't have the fills that could really tie some of their songs new/old together, and I've always saw that as one of Metallica's weaker points.

  • lars in general is the weak link in metallica musically, but he has the best ideas so they can't really do it without him. And whats funny is, it's probably a lie as it came form mustaine, but he says that before cliff died, they had planned on firing lars for some one who doens't need studio magic to keep time. And Dime is one of the best from a soul point of view. But I was talking strictly chops and ability. RIP

  • thats what I mean though. There are better, it's not that he's bad, it's that many people think he's the best. And he simply isn't. The single best guitarist in the world, is a tough thing to name with out a debate. But it would be between John Petrucci, That fat slob malmsteen, paul gilbert, steve vai and joe satriani. There are none better than them.

  • dime is the best imo

  • you're going to push a lot of peoples buttons by leaving out kirk BTW. LOL. I always include Brian Carroll (aka to laymen Buckethead) in any great guitarist discussion, problem w/ him is he's just a wierd fucker, and lays down everything he thinks of while in his chicken coop onto an album.

  • lol bucket head. Now there's an interesting guitarist. He's not bad, I'm not much of a fan, but he's got the chops I just dont care for his style.

  • just out of curiosity which trivium songs have you listened to? anything off the crusade is garbage. stick to shogun or their best - ascendancy. shogun has that Puppets feel, but a little more melodic in parts, but not in a negative way. Ascendancy has an american metal/hardcore perspective. Matt Heafy is also one hell of a guitarist and song writer. Doesn't use words like shame, lame, fame, game, LOL. Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation is a personal fav.

  • Matt on shogun sounds like a grittier version of James in parts(puppet/ride days) w/ more range.

  • There's nothing wrong with melody in metal which is something I was saying earlier in the posts. Not a damn thing wrong with it. my friend lent me Assendancy I think it was called. I didn't like most of it. There was a song though have no idea what it was called but I liked it. After that though I didn't really listen to anything else by them. But unless that is like the worst album they have, I doubt I would like anyhting else by them.

  • please don't say it was dying in your arms??!!

  • no i dont think so lol it said something like look at the scars thats like the only line I remember lol

  • i think its just stupid to say whos the best, cuz there are a lots of great guitar players for example santana is really good aswell and u didnt mention him.hes a dif genre tho.but theres def no BEST cuz each of his own

    peace

  • I think vinny paul is a great drummer. And he beats lars for sure. Lars in his prime was nothing special. I was only replying to douch starks comment that "Lars drum beats are all the same" Because those three beats I mentioned earlier, are pretty well what make up metal.Aside from blast beats, every drum line is one of those three, except maybe using a crash or china in place of the hats, or some coold double kick thing. The core of the beat is always one of three in metal.

  • Metallica is back. Period.

  • Funny how Testament, Slayer, AND Megadeath are making heavier music @ the same ages. Not as big, but weren't driven towards the trendy corporate dollar. Go listen to real thrash, not melodic garbage.

  • Any one who closes there mind to one kind of music and says anything melodic is garbage is a tool and a fag. Especially since testament have a few songs that are melodic.

  • closed mind to one kind of music... negative i have music from metal,to christain, country, african, swedish, celtic, blabla list goes on and on, with music from like 9 countries dickweed, and melodic in general is not trash.. just the melodic bullshit Metallica puts out is horable........

  • I'm a huge fan, and I prefer the older metallica, but there is nothing wrong with the music they put out now either. No leaf Clover, memory remains, all that shit is just as good master of puppets and seek and destroy, it's just different. And BTW testament did the same thing only it failed. THey were already a big thrash band and they fucked up when chuck started singing like a death metal singer. They thought death metal would be huge. They tried to do the same thing as metallica, only failed.

  • testament did not fail the just stayed to there roots, and your the only metallica fan iv ever herd say the new stuff is just as good as the master, and seek and destroy, give me a break... there songs are so simple and lyricly horable.... The Ritual by testament was released in 92 it was not a failer, they just didnt care about getting there pockets fat and there dick sucked by the media...unlike the black album...

  • More funny is how Dave Mustane wrote some 4 of the songs in Kill 'EM All, and two off Ride the Lightning. Maybe cuz he doesn't need a bitch ass therapist to come up w/ lyrics or musical content LOL.

  • im the other fan that likes metallicas new albums. just think, they are almost 50 years old, a few bands left like they, they just can't write same song like ride, master and so on, they are too old for it, so they write what they can and i think that magnetic and stanger are not so bag albums :)

  • the hole point of the new tallica album was to get back to master of pupets era, thats what james hetfield said... its time for them to retire, that is after they make a christmas cd lol

  • He also said that they weren't looking to create "master of puppets II" They wanted to get in touch with how they FELT during that time. To create faster, and more progressive music than what they had lately, but without soundlike like a repetition of themselves. Thats what slayer and AC/DC are for, releasing the same album over and over.

  • That progressive sound you speak of is no better than they typical Hinder/Saving Able garbage. Complexity is something Metallica no longer strives to maintain. Maybe arthritis? That's what drives me crazy. No lyrical competency anymore, and it's just straight "jam session" for them. And why does James have to go "nnyaaaahhh" after every word he sings? Gets annoying to hear him in his current tone.

  • I think the stuff is alot better than hinder. Even the load re load shit I like. Granted I dont like it as much as puppets, but I think it's way better and anything by new modern rockers. As far as lyrics go, I only think the lyrics were bad on st anger, I enjoy the lyrics on Death Magnetic excluding track 3. I agree about his shit voice though, but thats not controlable, he blew a voice box.

  • the only way metallica will get better is to DO A SHIT LOAD OF DRUGS ahaha but then theres that shitty voice still,... i personlaly have thrown all of my metallica cds away except kill,ride,master.. its sad to see the rest, just sad....

  • they did not stay true to their roots. THey went from thrash to death metal. Then with the bad backlash from it, they went back to there old style which is what metallica did. The only difference being A) Death Magnetic is not as close to their old sound as new testament, and B) every one hated it when Testament changed their sound, only half the people hated it when metallica changed their sound.

  • Testament still hasn't gone back to their "traditional" sound. Every one thas IS in or HAS been in Testament has a death metal background. They were progressing where as Metallica was in the process of regressing. Get your facts, or just stick to the Metallica fan boards, you have no idea what you're talking about in reference to Testament. AGE??? Dave Mustaine, Kerry King, Chuck Billy, they're all still producing great music @ 45!! Age has nothing to do w/ it, only an excuse for Metallica fans.

  • 1)I never said anything about anyones age.

2)I'm just as big a testament sound as I am a metallica fan.

3)Kerry King has yet to produce anything good at all in his career. The fucker has 1 solo in his career that is even in key with the song. He's just a mindles chaotic shredder, and doesn't know what he's doing on the guitar. Excluding St Anger, there's nothing wrong with anything Metallica has ever put out. Back in the day people didn't like ride the lightning either cuz it wasnt like kill.

  • Oh and going death metal isn't progressing or regressing. It's just a change in style. One that many of their fans didn't like. It's no different. It just doesn't seem like a big deal because at the height of their fame testament wasn't half as big as metallica. If they had been a bigger band, their "progression" as you call it would of been a bigger deal, and people would be saying fuck testament instead of metallica. It's only a "progression" if most of your fans like the change MORE.

  • They were both bay area thrash bands along w/ the Slayer's and Antrax's of the world. None were big @ all, only regional. Hell majority of people didn't even know about Ride the Lightning or Puppets UNTIL all the mainstreamers started buying them up after the Black album was released. The only reason there was a backlash @ testament is because Return to Serenity was a Semi-mainstream release and the population expected more, but what they got was a slap in the face, "NO THATS NOT WHAT WE ARE."

  • Master of Puppets is when metallica caught on. Touring with ozzy for that album brought them to the public. By the time they released and justice for all everyone knew who they were. THey were already big. Releasing the black album made them "legends" in most peoples eyes, but they were already huge before hand. THe justice tour at the time was the most succesful first headlining tour in history.WHen Testament changed their style, they weren't half as big as metallica was when they did.

  • True, Testament's always been regarded as more regional or underground, w/ little to no exposure. But that's the way they like it. They devert themselves from a myopic fanbase that thrives on power chords and cheesy singing (not pointing at Metallica just generalizing). Metallica just became what they hated in the glam metal days, the charitable, and age polarizing music. All variances of ages could listen to the Black album, it was hard, not complex, no picking, just power chords & solos.
