Nice shots! Cant get get out of my head though that HSTs have been pulling these speeds for 30 years now, just a smidge quicker than a Deli pulling 16 coaches made of wood on leaf springs! The main difference is these are plastic, can't move without a nuclear power station and have no character. Fine vid.
EEK!! Plastics on the WCML, gonna be more of them if HS1 gets the go ahead, Great Vid but doesnt cut the mustard when the 87's, 86's & 90's are roaring by! i believe there is a 90 and mk111 set scooting about the WCML, often named as the " Pretendolino" ive yet to ride on this--be great to add this into Plastic pendo footage :)))
Though a bit of advice to help you, try to avoid zooming. If you wish to zoom when filming, do very slow and smooth ones. They work wonders in the right places. Fast unexpected zooms tend to look weird - As i've leart oover time hehe.
125 mph, but there are plans to upgrade the Trent Valley to 135 mph. The ECML has been running trains at 125 mph since the seventies so high speed is nothing dangerous.
No - they are actual speed. Couldn't say if the first one is slower without frame counting the original shots. It might be a difference in the zooming of the various shots.
Great video! Its a pity they arnt doing 140mph. Then again that might cause an even bigger rush of wind and blow the tripod over (its happened to me!)
The zoom lens foreshortens them. If you compare them with the "flying freightliners" video, where the 66s and 90s were running at 75mph, I think you'll agree that they were moving far faster than that!
It's a different thing. Pendolino (and tilting trains in general) is meant as an option "between" the old, "slow" train, and spending bilions on the creation of new high speed lines.
It is used where the traffic and/or the conditions don't allow a HST.
I think the main line speed through Cheddington is 125 mph although they may not all be achieving it in this video. If I', wrong no doubt someone will correct me!

I hate these trains, And Voyagers.
Bring back the class 86's, 87's, 90,s on the Mk2 and 3s with a DVT.
And the HST and Loco hauled Cross country trains.

Your zooming takes away the appearance of speed. One loses perspective in the zoom process.

@charlieere01 about 563 mph

@charlieere01 The pendolinos are fun to ride on because of the speed. Still, they go as fast as any other high speed train. (Except for a eurostar)

Did you slow them down because the first one doesn't look that fast ;p!

So a 390 is basically a 9-car EMU for the West Coast? So sad I never get to see them...
