The NATO/US alliance can match all of that, save for maybe Chinese numbers, but what would be the point of it all? If it stayed conventional, it would be a bloodbath on both sides, but as soon as it goes nuclear, we're -all- dead. I just hope somebody can get the politicians under control soon, before they get everyone killed on both sides with their pointless games.

Simple fact is that they fought longest than other countries on land against Germany without their country being totally occupied. and there were A LOT of them. If they were caught they were always hanged and random executions against civillians were done as revenge by Nazis always to partisan activity. Partisans and Scouts, are predecessors of modern Spetsnaz in Russia today.

But mainly civlian targests, UK bombed German towns and cities from almost the beginning, US did not agree with this tactic at first, but then when they realized that bombing AA guarded factories wasnt so easy, they turned to bombing civillian targets too and they are still doing it even in 2011 did in Libya.
