He was a special Infected that was cut from the final version. He is in a straight jacket and he doesent hurt you. You have a few seconds to kill him before he screams. The scream attracts zombies. The screamer runs away while the zombies are attacking you.

Later he was cut from the game because he was too difficult to kill after he screams. And his zomie attracting scream attack, Evolved into the Boomers Vomit being able to attract zombies.

Nonono. The boomer puke and explosion was ment to do damage. The boomer wasn't a replacement for the screamer. They just removed it's expolding and puking damage, and transfered the horde-attracting ability to the boomer. Valve decided that if they removed the screamer, there wouldln't be enaugh zombies. So they made the witch instead :)

Yes, i have the game, and i've played commentary. the screamer was cut and ITS HORDE ATTRACKING ABILITY WAS TRANSFERED to the boomer. So they cut the boomers damage.

alright, how good is this: "Left 2 Die" the prequel to Left 4 Dead except it is more story-oriented and follows 2 scientests whom have mad skills with the shooting of zombies. It explains how the zombies came to be.

I think the levels would be something like in a science centre trying to contain infection. Then out in the open country-side running away from science centre. Then in a big city. And then finally, a military camp which would be like the last stand with the zombies.

TO end the debate on whether this is a copy of Resident evil. It isn't, this is actually more logical then a random virus. In Left 4 Dead, there is a mutated strand of rabies that infects the town in which the survivors live in. They are immune to the virus(Think I am Legend). They fight their way out to try to escape. There is multiplayer(Co-Op+Versus) as opposed to Resident Evil. They also have an AI called the "Director" controlling the thrill levels. So it varies and can never be the same.
