There were the parts when she was on an emotional breakdown but she overcame it and finally understood that she had to fight for her ppl. Zhao Wei was FANTASTIC!!

It is based on the Chinese legend and is more realistic than the Disney version. Also I read in reviews that it focuses more on Mulan's relationship with her lover. Also...lots of war scenes... the horror of the war and its impact on Mulan.

Cindy etc had happy endings, so removing all the gore etc wasn't such a big surgical operation. And in fact the Disney Snow White had scary moments aplenty.
