I was thinking about getting a chinchilla but ferrets look far more interesting. Would one get on with my cat or dog? I'm probably more worried about them than the ferret. :P

i read an article about ferrets and it said it usualy gets along with other pets but it depends on the personality

They do if you know what you are doing and introduces them well to each other. However, though a ferret is a wonderful pet, it is also a difficult pet, much more than cats and dogs- be prepared for using lots of time and energy on your fuzzy. If you do, you get a wonderful pet.

No, but you do have to spend at least the same amount of time playing with them. You need to handle them every day and it takes much longer to tame and train them.

In fact, I can easily walk 5 miles in an hour, with a dog that would be 1½ (at least the dogs I have had, though not the Malamute I plan to get *g*). I play with my ferret or "walk" him for 1½-4 hours a day.

@ray1351 ferrets are naturally lazy, they tend to sleep for 14-18 hours a day and sometimes they are absolutely impossible to wake up!
