Let me tell you folks that you need to buy the book 'I lived to tell it all'. Its just an amazing book. This was filmed in 1981-1982. This probably the last time you will see George on his amazing 'white Lightening' cocktale. shug baggett gave George Jones the best cocaine around to keep him up in the stage. He was probably 4 times legally drunk here plus 3 grams of ether based cocaine. Damn he sounded awesome though!
@jasonshasen Sorry to hear about the loss of your bro friend. This old George Jones fan will have a drink to his honor later tonight and play some Jones tunes. Take care and stay safe friend.
if the memory doesnt kill me, drinking will.........(thats the truth).......... Im georges grand daughter. Im fully aware but, no one eles is except my siblings and mama Terri.
I saw George perfom twice when I lived in Albuquerque for ten years. His better years are behind him, however he is a living legend. His wife Nancy helped George turn his life around, after his divorce from Tammy. He'll always be a great memory to true country music. He's right up there with Merle, Johnny Cash, Willie, and Waylon, and Marty.
@luvburq Nancy's a biotch who wont let his own daughter and five kids even say "Hello grandfather! Thanks for having us! We have lived 6 crazy ass lives.... Your own daughter Terri is a beautiful and vibrant woman who the WORLDDD should neal to.
@uhohwhoops if the memory doesnt kill me, drinking will.........(thats the truth).......... Im georges grand daughter. Im fully aware but, no one eles is except my siblings and mama Terri.
Okay--it just does not get any better than this. What that man Jones can do with his voice puts today's country singers to shame. He can sing so low and he can sing so high--pure magic. Love this and thanks for the posting. I think this live version is exquisite!
I'm so glad to see George smile when he mentions Tammy's name, I know he's been to hell and back, BUT at least he came back , intact with his humor, smile, (I love that smile) and a love for Tammy still in his heart.... Thank you George Jones for singing for US. GOD BLESS
yea ya dont really see him to often in these years with out his guitar ., now all the time since he's been over seventy five wow thats amazing, but thats why he is...
GEORGE jONES he cant even believe it , he said yea i slip sometimes , i'll keep commin out as long as the fans want me too... we are the fans !!!! we're not pushing him too hard are we ? we're nice people arent we...yesss we are
he gives me them chills, all the time, he takes your emotions on a ride he found his mark and style in the sixtys kept improveing it 70 's full of hits just more age in the voice . you know what they say about ,fiddles ,wine , and george jones's voice
What a frigging great entertainer George Jones is. And, listen to the delivery of his songs f- - - - - - Fantastic song. WHY?? Because the greatest songwriter and singer in the world is on stage performing that song. That is WHY and believe me I speak from 55 years on stages in numerous countries performing all genres George Jones is an American ICON. If I were president today, tomorrow I would nominate George Jones for National Treasue Status. That is my opinion and I will Stick to it.
One Of Finest Examples of true county singing.. Wish it was still the same. Not too many new country singers and songs can live up to this, especially live singing...

ol' "no show" showed up that night! you can tell he's 3 sheets lit and the pain and soul is pouring through... one of the top country voices of all time
Like it says under the name of yankee1830 who posted this.... "NO DESCRIPTION AVAILABLE" . Exactly. He puts everything into his singing. I mean everything.
Folks, this man is on a level ALL BY HIMSELF as far as singing a Country (REAL
Country) song. It's ironic that his best period of singing (and biggest hits) came at a time when he was personally on the ropes from whiskey and cocaine. Read his autobiography, "I Lived To Tell It All", and you'll understand just why this man is VERY lucky to have lived as long as he has. He should have been dead over 30 years ago. If he can live through it, ANYONE can.
@dmreeoogdaq i agree but not just ANYONE can make it through the hard living. genetics have a big part in that too. someone with inferior genetics might have croaked 30 years sooner...
its funny how when you talk about country everybody say good thing and talk easily about themself...when you talk about any other music everybody start insulting each other and everything... COUNTRY ALL THE WAY !!
Y'all better appreciate George while we still have him, because once he is gone, so is traditional country music. There will never EVER be another George Jones... perfection is a one time thing.
My dad was an alcoholic and divorced from my mom. He loved George Jones and this song in particular. He's gone now , and everytime I hear this song I get tears in my eyes.
@debgale1 Yep, bet none of this new junk pop/country music can bring tears to yours eyes cause it all fake and for the money.Jones songs were all almost true an bout his past. Thats why he one of the Greatest behind Hank Sr.
@chamberlainj1 With all due respect to the great Hank Williams, George is the greatest country singer to ever take a breath. I suspect ole Hank would say the same if he were still alive.
@possumnj38 yep George Jones the best that there was,the best there is, and the best ever will be.. hes the best singer of them all. aint nobody can fill his shoes
