oh man this is great. Why are there in America so many people buying mongoose mtb's in wallmart? Are they fake? These people think they are real cool to have a mongoose from wallmart but they are crap i think. Buy a real mongoose!!!!!!!!!!!
When will i be able to get my hands on some mongoose tshirts or something to wear when im riding to represent, there site has been down for ages so you cant check out there apparel :(
at $4000.00 they must be smoking crack if they think after spending that kinda money you will still have some change in your pocket for travel to ride. What planet are they guys living on.. The economy is going to shit fast. If they want to sell these things, they better drop them below $1000. It's a fucking bike that you pedal with your feet, not a Yamaha Motocross bike with a motor.
your biking industry and cost of R&D is based on a worthless monetary system. 35 years ago a person could buy a Porsche 911 for under $25K.
All your primo bikes are designed on computers today with some real world testing.. Materials don't cost that much and everything is pretty much stamped out or computer milled out to spec.
Wrong again. It would surprise you how many high end bikes hand weld their frames (Rocky Mountain, Ellsworth, Intense, Devinci...) Your example of the car industry is a poor one. Mountain bikes have progressed far more in the past decade than cars, in fact 35 years ago mountain bikes didn't exsist , let alone one that could handle the intense forces that bikes are now subject to.
hand welded or auto welded.. both are done in Taiwan, which is part of Communist China. The only people making the brunt of the money in building these bikes are the executives of these bike companies.. a $4000 pricetag on a mountain bike is simply put there to discourage many from buying one that is well built, but built in the same sweat shop in Taiwan or mainland China.
Will you please research what your saying before you reply??!! Companies like supercycle do weld their frames in Taiwan, howvere the companies I listed in my previous response (high end companies) do manufacture and weld thier frames on site. Don't get me wrong, ome bicycle companies do have their frames manufactured overseas, however their is also a large percentage that welds their frames on site.
Even the companies that do manufacture their frames overseas put countless hours and time into engineering and design. Your average dirt bike is a single pivot. Mountain bike designs have advanced to where brake-jack can be eliminated, pedaling forces work independently of suspension. This type of innovation doesn't stop at the frame. Magura produces brakes, the machining on their bike brakes is far more fine than the machining on their moto brakes.
even with all that said I still disagree on the $4000+ price. There may be some dolts out there that will pay that price, but not me. Even if I had the money to spend. I've got a Mngoose Otero Super. Paid under $1000 for it.. That's plenty to spend on a offroad bike.
True, and an Otero is plenty of bike for the average person. However, the bike in this video is intended for downhiller and freeriders. It has to be built and spec'ed to take incredible abuse. Steve Romaniuk ( Mongoose Team Rider) took a Boot'r off a 35' drop in Kamloops. In order to build a bike capable of such abuse it's easy to see where the price tag starts to add up.
All these freeride bikes are bad ass but its bullshit what they all cost. its like every sport these days are for the people who have alot of money. I have a 2800 dollar bike and thats more than enough itsself. why is everything so damn rediculous
yea dude i know right!! if you want a n ice downhill bike or dual shock bike you have to pay atleast 800 to 900 dollars!! its stupid!! where not all rich buddy!!
Mountain bikes cost as much as they do because of the amount of time and money that bike companies invest into R&D. Mountain bikes have advanced at an incredible rate over the last decade. 10 years ago a high end bike had weak brakes and maybe 3 inches of suspension. Today we see bikes with 9, 10, even 12 inches of travel that still pedal more efficiently than the 3-inch models 10 years ago, not to mention can stop on a dime from 60 km/h. All this adds up when you buy a new bike...
we locals have a quote. a set of rockshox boxxers, when one fork isnt enough......... lol
