Jimmy Rogers was such a great singer. and on Jan.10th 2008 my son Jimmy died at only 35, so this song, Train Carrying Jimmy Rogers home, has a double meaning for me.
I've said it before.....I drove 875 miles to see them once and I'd do it again..if I was able, I'd walk it. :-) This song gives me chills. Pat Henry can do NO wrong! This entire band is perfect. Glad Mike Compton is back now!
I was able to see them in the early 90s at the Moose lodge in Elizabeth PA. Small venue. Fantastic

Is this song on any of the NBB's albums?

You can find it on a Rounder Records 1987 album (CD 0232) eponymously named The Nashville Bluegrass Band.
(Just wanted to use the word "eponymously" for one time in my life.)

Hey thanks I appreciate it.

You bet. I bought the whole album just to get that one song. And it was worth it. But there's a lot of good stuff on that record besides that one.

That's a mighty sad number right there...Compton is wearing a pair of breeches that would make a lotof people in the state of Kentucky awfully proud
