@OD2408 an iPod Touch does not have built in GPS does it? You will need to use an external GPS paired with the iPod Touch; is that your set up right now?
@marktesch The iPod Touch does NOT have a built in GPS. The way the iPhone finds your current location is through cell towers (triangulation), the iPod Touch does it through WiFi, meaning you have to login to a hotspot before you start using it.
@lucirz Hi, I have never tried it myself but I'm pretty sure you can just pair it directly through the bluetooth settings on the iPod Touch. If you have a jailbroken iPod Touch, you might want to try SerialGPS from Cydia. Sorry I can't be of more help as I have never tried pairing with an external bluetooth GPS receiver before.
hey bro i need help please my xgps it said not able to get my location even when im in the car is said location not found is something wrong with the sattlite cause at the top by the battary it shows a satlite please help
@OD2408 Hi, the issue could be with your internal GPS. Please see that you have selected the internal GPS in the settings. If you are still having trouble, there could be something wrong with the GPS chip in your phone. This happened to my iPhone 3G in the past. Had to get a new iphone because having it repaired is too costly.
Hope this helps. Try getting a lock as well in the open before entering your car.
@SakuraSolidMarker hi, I am not sure of a GPS-enabled application, but there is a free application on the iTunes AppStore that will allow you to download bus maps and stuff. It's called Transit Maps, just search for it on AppStore, it's free and the maps can be used offline as well. Hope this helps.
hi, the guys behind xGPS are working on getting their app onto appstore. at the moment, however, you can only get xGPS through Cydia using a jailbroken iphone. thanks for dropping by:)
I have downloaded the maps here (45.2MB) and when its offline mode, it keeps giving me this pop up saying "Could not find direction because of no internet connection".
I thought it should still work eventhough Im offline as long as I have downloaded the maps?
hi go into the settings and make sure offline maps is switched on:) also, make sure that you placed your maps in the right directory on your iPhone. Hope this helps:) oh, and also make sure that you have selected iPhone internal GPS as your location device in the settings of the program as well:)
look over my comments again, I see the problem now. When using the directions feature, you will need an Internet connection. This doesn't work online.
so if we use the direction future at home with wifi and start for a drive and lost somewhere taking a wrong exit. Then does it recalulate the route or do we need internet conncetion again for that?.
Auto Rotation is actually when map itself rotates, its not related to screen orientation.

What they mean with map auto rotation is that when u are driving the map autorotates where u go
neshudo 2 years ago
yep that's exactly what happens with autorotation:) it's still kind of buggy though, I've noticed at least. so I keep rotation off.
