This was a great video. I love that you have such a kickarse and enjoyable way of exercising. What rocks even more is that you can share it with your kids.
Personally to get out of a funk I dancing, go to dance class or just start moving around my living room until I am completely exhausted and there is nothing else left but me.
I am so big on backpacking!! I have all the gear and experience, but the damn weather is still not with me on hiking/camping :S Oh well - I can't wait!
I'm so happy that you've found a way to channel your frustration/let down/coping into this positive thing :D
Also, in stickam the lag was awful and with other conversations going on I couldn't figure out what you were saying to me about running shoes. Was there something you'd like to see me talk about with Shelby (Run26 guy)?
I loved this, Jim! For me the hardest thing is not getting stuck (in the funk). I can get out of a funk by walking on the beach, watching and listening to the waves or really just taking a walk outside on a beautiful day. I recently put a note by my desk that says... this moment... and when I look at it I remember that I have a choice to be happy or not for this moment. Sounds corny, but works :) (at least most of the time)
cool video, my camping includes driving to the beach with a cooler full of beer! my dad and brother did appal. trail a few years back, they said it was pretty cool.
im sorry i dont got a camera redy for this but i can tell you what i do
theres about 4-6 things that i can do
1 play the guitar
2 go crusieing with the boys
3 get out side and camp
4 start a nice fire on a cold night with a wool blanket and with out saying anything just look at the fire and coals because without fire there is no life
Yeah. I know. I am 55 years old. People I know are dropping like flies. It is so incredibly sad, but enlightening all at the same time. All this sadness becomes a wake up call. I realize there will be a day when I realize my turn is over. OK. I realize that. However, that makes me acknowledge I have something to do until the moment when my number is up. Oh yeah. I know that more than ever right now. Ahhhh...............I know for sure. My number ain't up yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You go TFA!!!!
I put all my funk into the soil of my brand new garden. I put all the negative energy/stress from the day into working the soil and maintaining my little garden. It's thereputic, outdoors, and beautiful things grow from it. Best thing is, I get to EAT all that good stuff :-) Good for you, Texas, for not putting the hiking off anymore. Get out and LIVE! Have FUN on your Hike :-)
Awesome vid Jim !! Is that where you were last week or are you heading there now. Where in the world did you get that mini cook top I want one ?!! Lol :) <3 u
No, Last week I was in Ocean Springs, MS. We have two sick family members and that kind of brought me down. Life must go on and I am going to go out to the woods to clear my head. The mini stove was purchased at REI I think but you can get them online if you look. I learned about it and the mug from Backpacking magazine a few years back.
Please do! I think we would all enjoy what we do to get out of a funk. To my your dad sounds lucky to have done most of the trail. I've only ever got to do .25 miles of it. One day maybe.
I am so sorry to hear about your sick family and friends.
I was totally going to say I go camping and get outdoors when I am in a funk. HaHa!! I can pack alot more in my RV than your backpack.. :-)
I loved this video and I also can't wait to get back into hiking. Maybe I can talk the family into doing it this weekend also..

How to get fitted for shoes and how to see if I twist my foot when I walk or jog. I hurt my knee last month and I don't want that to happen again.
