SOOO glad that I found this. My car has been loudly whining. So I took it to a shop and they said it was the crankshaft pulley and harmonic balancer. I paid over $300 and it still makes the noise. I found this last night and took my car back to the shop today and played it and said Im pretty sure this is it. So sure enough, my front wheel bearing is bad. Go figure!! But the bastards want to charge me for fixing it after they fixed the wrong thing. F that!

I have that very same noise coming from the rear part of my 240sx. I have been trying to figure out where the stupid noise comes from.......!!!!!!!so fucking frustrated right now!!!!!!

haha my old chevy did this sort of stuff last fall, now, when i went under the car to do check-ups i found out my driveshaft bearings are totally fucked up.

To me that sounds like some bearings need to be changed. I can hear the difference between gear whine and bearing noise.

Yea the diff wouldn't make a noise like that. It's more of a low grinding noise. Similar to an off balance tire
