  • boring

  • not braxton in his best, IMHO

  • misha is so not interested

  • Braxton's certainly not jive, but that's not say he has his moments, where he appears to have nothing. Very inconsistent I feel, and I wouldn't say he's particularly inspired on this occasion.

  • O_O

  • this took place in Holland : Live at the Bimhuis, Amsterdam, Netherlands, June 5, 2005.

  • The more i hear this part the better it gets. A Typical Dutch Mengelberg composition.

  • fantastic!it's a plasure going to bed with this...

    so it is~~~~

  • is dolphy jive? is coltrane's "iterstellar space" jive? or do you know more about music than the most widely respected and innovative musicians in modern music, like ravi shankar and jaco pastorious who both played with braxton. retard

  • I have read many exhaustive discographies of Braxton. I do not believe he ever played with Jaco or Ravi. Braxton has never played fusion first of all. Second of all, although he has played with other exotic instrumentalists like synthesizer and bagpipes,he has never played with a sitarist, let alone the master himself Ravi Shanakr. Correct me if I am wrong, please.

  • I do not know if Braxton has ever played with a sitarist, but I know that he has played with Indian musicians (vina, tabla, vocalists from the north and the south) because the firs time I saw him live that was what he was doing.

  • When and where did Braxton play with musicians who played vina and tabla? Is there a recording?

  • The concert was took place in the 90s. I can't remember exactly what year, either 1995 or 1996. It was at Merkin concert hall in NYC. It was a cross cultural cross disciplinary concert including a classical pianist and someone on electronics. If the concert was recorded, it was never released professionally (at least to my knowledge).

  • I live in the world!

  • so do I! anthony braxton lives here too, ive seen him. his view of the world is totally unique like anyone, just maybe a little more unique. why is it that material goods are valuable if they are rare but the same isnt true of music except for the material records the come on sometimes.

  • value is a combination of supply and demand

  • pwned

  • i enjoy it. it's not the same as mozart or miles davis but i used to think all pop and dance music was stupid, then i thought, "i am not the only person, some people may want to use music in a way i dont enjoy or understand." humans have limited understanding. judement without sure proof is silly. or am i wrong and dance and pop are just evil excuses to try and fuck the best looking person in sight. if that is always true then ill say braxton isnt one of the most talented living musicians.

  • just try to play it. or hell, even transcribe it. you sound like a slave-owner from 1823 in Virginia. "i don't understand it... it must be bad."

  • awsome.

    Thanks for posting this.

  • Very nice!

  • fantastic!it's a plasure going to bed with this...
