They often [Mitchell and Webb] wrote for Armstrong and Miller and feature in the RAF sketch where they use language like "that's you that is" "what's the beef blood?", while in RAF uniform smoking pipes. Sorry if I made a connection which you fail to see. Of course they were still in Uni is that a crime? Comedy connections from the past are often made in modern comedy, especially in Mitchell and Webb's work.

@Llamastrangler The song - No idea. I think the joke is more in the way he hums the tune, rather than what the tune is. The haircut reference - I have seen this many times in my school days. Someone in the class gets a haircut, and the other kids make fun of it. I've had "haircut!" said to me in that sort of tone.

Sorry if someone else has mentioned this already - I could only be arsed to read to p.9 but.........this had my whole school going in '91-'92. Cacked myself laughing this first time. Still good now. Shame Newman & Badiel ended up falling out and hating each other. This act was the first live commedy act (and only one I think) to completely sell out to capacity at Wembley Arena - or they did it in a record time or something. Brilliant!

I agree with you 100% that's the yanks field of over using burnt material from the 18th century. but keep in mind this was made in the early '90s when this stuff was just a little bit funny. I'll admit this isn't one of their funnier skits. But there are funny bits and pieces in it in which we can appreciate, as I do with Family Guy I don't enjoy watching it religiously and quote the it verbatim but I enjoy some parts.
