one of the most underraated "soul singers' of the last century....listen to her ballads, and you have to put her right there, next to Aretha, Patti, Chaka and Gladys, in terms of vocal ability. My girl "got chops" and she knows how to use 'em. I love me some Stephanie Mills....and whenever I hear, "Try My Love", "You and I" or "Keep Away Girls (This Man is All Mine), I close my eyes and sing my heart out, just like her.
