Hmm... this is exceedingly dangerous. firstly methanol (methyl alcohol) is extremely toxic. They used to put 1% in methylated spirits to stop people from drinking it. They drank it anyway and killed themselves. Secondly, putting a methanol can near a fire you cannot see is even more dangerous. It could have caught fire and you would not have realised. And to top it off you throw a firecracker into it. Next time just be a bit more safe. This is why crackers are banned in Australia.

its called nitromethane highly flamible and it doesnt burn clear it burns blue but you cant see it in the day light as far as i know it is one of the only fuels that can burn in a vaccum because it has its own oxygen in the fuel really fun 2 play with but it is very very very flammable i know from expirence there if a square yard of black ground in my woods because of it (dont add it to an already burning fire not a good idea)

While we can easily criticize the lack of common sense displayed by leaving the fuel so close to the flames, it is a good demonstration of a methanol fire. Many race car drivers, most notably Rick Mears in 1981, have been engulfed in methanol flames. Nobody could see the flames while he was jumping up and down. But anybody that got close to them could feel the wave of heat from the invisible flames covering his fire suit.

The nitro isn't what gives you invisible fire. It's the methanol (methyl alcohol). Also, the fire isn't really invisible. The light intensity is just very dim. If you light methanol at night you'll see blue flames.
