We can do better. We can talk to great Umuahians in NYC and ask them to help incorporate companies in NYC at the behest of the college. We also need a great change in Government in Abia State
Thak you legalbro for this video. This video demonstrates the power of You Tube for without You Tube there is no way I would have known the horrible condition of my Alma Mater. It was a very beautiful place with its own paved roads, pipe borne water supply and huge dining hall where we dined 3X a day.Let me hear fast from other Old Boys of Government College Umuahia also known as Umuahians. Iam t we can get enough Old Boys to rebuild our School.
I graduated from this schoool 33 years ago (1978), it was like a military college, the discipline was tough, this school taught me how to survive in face of adversity, I remember that punishment for disobedience then was a form of exercise (runs), I always tell school kids in USA that I had a better high school education, I would like to give back if given the right sources that can chanel donations to the school without filling up individuals personal pockets.
Sad! The owner of the party that rules Abia state claims he attended this school! He has a 'paradise on earth' mansion in his village. He bought land in his village equivalent to half of a clan for .... a golf course. He successfully installed a stuge as replacement when he left power as governor of the state. His mother was first lady! If Abia people cannot rise up and drive criminals out of power, those out side Nigeria can do little.
SAD! This school has produced some of the best minds in south east and south south Nigeria. Infact, this school was the most prestigious high school in Nigeria at its peak as a nation. Even if the school has been abandonned by the government, why can't the countless doctors, lawyers, ministers, etc who have come through it contribute to its revival?
So what is the government and the governor doing with the money allocated for education. How can you call on Abians in Disapora to come and build schools when the government of Abia State since Orji Uzor Kalu has beenn known for its complete profligacy.
Lets get serious. Our kids in Abia have no futire provided the idiots and fools in power remain in power. Abia needs a complete revolution and may God help us.
i had that nigeria is a rich country, why cant the Gvt bulld a good school for the kids, the school looks like a poetry if i may say.HOOO my God help nigeria, but i like poeple from there they are so clever, they can sing and dance very good.
I am a black from the U.S., I know the call went out to Nigerians, but what can others do to help if they desire too? I am not a Nigerian, but I do have a love for children and feel that all children should be educated and have nice suitable facilities in which to learn.
The shouts for HELP should be mounted right at the doors of the Abia State government and IF I MAY ASK: what is happening to the FEES; tuition and dorm fees that these students are Paying ?
THOSE FEES ARE MEANT TO BE USED TO MANAGE THESE SCHOOLS. Is Govt. College Umuahia a free education school ?
BAD MANAGEMENT FROM FEDERAL TO VILLAGE IS THE PROBLEM. Onye ihu na ezu, onye azu na ezu. GOD HAVE MERCY ON NIGERIA !
