  • Nice work make, Good to make something new out of something old, steel is such a nice medium :)

  • Hi Dave, brilliant video's mate i've watched them all and think you'd of been just the man for the A-Team when they used to weld metal plates to there cars & vans to make them bullet-proof. I heard on one of the video's that you live round Walsall way. Where do you get your steel from because i live in the west midlands & get my steel from Birmingham but its quite an expensive place. I love welding & fabricating with steel too & can't wait to make a wood burning stove. Thanks for the videos.

  • I'd pondered, in the past, the best way to remove a valve from a LPG bottle. Don't know why the BFH and flat stock hadn't come to mind... Thanks.

    Nice build and engineering, Dave.

  • Nice job! Now I am gonna have to build me one, lol.

  • Many thanks Dave. Will give it a try. I assume by filling with water you are forcing remaining gas to the surface/opening. If you fill to the brim, would this not force all the gas out, or is there still gas about that needs to be rid of? I assume the bottles you are using are Petroleum Gas bottles? Best wishes

  • Dear Dave. Want to make a 48kg gas bottle water heater. I have a plan and have made others using non-gas cylinders. I want to increase my water/heat turnover rate, and by using gas bottles will do this. I see in your video the cleaning out of the bottle using water, and burning out the excess gas. This looks simple, but can be the difference between surviving or not. Please could you detail more this process (or better demonstrate it) Cheers from the bush in Africa..

  • @TheLiuwa Hi, you will need a solid length of steel about 7 or 8" long a big hammer, hold the steel again'st the brass valve and hit it anti clock wise, it will take a lot of hits before it starts to move, but it will go you may need to lay the bottle on the ground , make shure it's empty and you do it outside well away from any buildings, once the valves off you can fill it with water and make your fire , thanks dave.

  • is there a continue video

  • how meny radiator will this run let me no thanks

  • Hi Dave,

  • hi dave how can i get intouch with about buying one of your gas bottle wood burners? thanks paul

  • Hi Dave,

The section you showed burning out the cylinder, was this done with air blowing in forcing out the gas to be burned.

    Cheers mate

  • Hi Dibby59, theres always gas left in the bottle, you have to knock the top off , fill it with water, stand back and the light the top, then it's full it's safe to cut with a grinder or burning gun, do it (out side), away from everyone, you don't have to light the gas but it smells if you don't,thanks dave. (only use water)

  • Hi Dave

  • Hi twinmini, I have'nt got one a stove that size , if you make one coil the copper outlet tube around the flue, you will capture more heat. thanks dave.

  • hi we are trying to make one of these for a local scout group to keep the warm out on camp in the hut in the woods but are at the moment having alot of trouble unscrewing the valve at the top there and tips or pearls of wisdom you can give us

  • Hi desiredaffect, first make shure the bottle is empty, lay the bottle down (out side) chock sides so it won't roll, with a big hammer and a iron bar hit the inlet anti clock wise, it may need 5 or 10 blows before it moves, they are really tight, Im open to offers on my stoves, look on ebay, phone me, thanks dave.

  • Hi pirationsoundsyteme, yes occasionaly if work is slow, I might make a stove or an iron man, or something that I think will sell, look on ebay, antiques wrought iron, thanks dave.
