Should i first break all the curses in my life??I believe i already did.

I still smoke cigarettes though,and still have some other sins like i find it hard simetimes to actually honour my dad for instance.

@packrat28401 On my comment, I can find other verses if you like on tongues being "not very useful", but the one that cuts the least is 1 Corinthians 12:28, which lists off spiritual gifts in priority order, and tongues is dead last. 1 Corinthians 12:31, Paul urges us to "Want the greater gifts, and I'll show you a better way." I also speak from experience.

From what I read, The Holy spirit used it at Pentecost to enable the apostles, and others to speak to a large group of foreigners in their own language, like if I could suddenly speak Spanish when before I could not! I received the gift of tongues more than thirty years ago, but I still remember that night well. I had been seeking this gift for more than a month, and I couldn't understand why God wouldn't just give it to me. Then a friend told me that God had already given the gift; I just needed to receive it. I believe that your spirit is hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit and speaking it out. Naturally as your mind tries to analyze what you are saying; there will be a little struggle and some repetitions. It is not unusual.

If we were to have the fullness of what Christ provided for us, everyone will have tongues, discernment, prophecy, faith, etc... but usually people have different areas of strength/grace which is really a mind thing, and there are definitely saved Christians who do speak in tongues.

@bamboorules, God WANTS everyone to receive tongues. Doesn't mean everyone will. But it's not God doing the rationing. There are other things that cause the gifts of the Holy Spirit to be a process for some. But the MAIN thing that stops people from receiving tongues is that they after waiting for a while, they start believing that God doesn't want the gift for them, and at that point the angels who had been sent to deliver the gift of tongues return to heaven disappointed.

I believe I finally have it but I am not sure but I will continue to speak it out. Jesus said all will recieve it who ask in His Name and I did. it is not flowing for me fluently for me yet so how long do I continue to speak it out?

can u show me scriptures where one is 'indwelt" with Spirit and "baptized in Spirit. can u show me scriptures that its two seperate things? so which one is born again? was cornelius in chapter 10 already indwelt before he is baptized with Holy Spirit? in acts 8 for samerians when was they indwelt before they was baptized in Spirit? and Acs 19:2 was they indwelt before being baptized in the Spirit.. the clear answer is that they didnt recieve the holy spirit until they were baptized in spirit.

As a young Catholic, I went to a youth retreat and was so drawn to it that i actually did speak in a tongue. It felt as if the Holy Spirit had possessed me ,and I started to utter wierd incantations.

My grandmother speaks tongues, but she says its something you can't control. Like when you need to vomit and it just comes out. But you're saying you have to do it on your own. I Thought God was the one that makes you speak it?

My friend speaks in tongues, and most of the time he just does it, I suppose you could say he commands it. My other friend who couldn't speak in tongues now can and he also can speak at any time.

yes. that's true. there are false tongues. but i had mine analysed by a person who like can translate people praying in tongues. but hey. im only 12. praise the lord.god bless.
