  • I'll take it.

  • beautiful car's we'll never see produced again.

  • my dadused to have one of these back in thelate70s he put a 1970 cadillac fleetwood bench seat in it and me and my cousin used to fight to see who could sit on the armrest and look out the front window while we cruised around the philly ghettos. those were the days. even the food was better back then

  • They don't make em like they used to

  • another cheap GM rack to a "snob" market, lol

  • These cars are true classics!

  • I have odd and beautiful fantasies about distant planets where cars like this are still made.

  • Astro Ventilation? Wow.

  • The instrument panel shot showed a missing clock. It had a place for a clock but the purchaser must have had one of those "small budgets."

  • HOLY SEA HUNT !!! it is Lloyd Bridges, I thought he passed on?

  • @327caprice Lloyd Bridges must have done a lot of commercials at that time. I have a vitalis commercial he did around that time

  • GM designers surely had great talent in designing "Full Size" cars, back then, the '69 & '70 Caprice (coupe) models are just great looking...over 2T of beauty & power: 454 TurboJet was brand new rated at....390HP...in Catalog....over 400 in reality!

....NO More SS for "full size" Chevys:(Impalas) in '70:((((

  • Mmmm, rich-looking trim.

  • the 70s caprice is a midsize car compared to the 1975 lincoln continental! that car was is the sherman tank! lol i like the 1976 model caprice

  • Nothing more secure filling than, of driving a boat down the road.

  • 0:39 ......Looks like he's ready to have an upholstery orgasm. LOL

  • what the hell happened to quality cars?... you'd think 40 years after 1970, we'd have incredible autos, but no... they ended up being small, ugly, slow, bland, gay, unreliable, plastic, hideous pieces of crap. i blame the japanese for coming in, and polluting the breed of quality cars. that caused the american cars to look japanese, and become just as crappy. plus obama is doing everything he can to get beauties like these off our roads. WHAT HAPPENED?

  • How different were the Chevrolet ads from the 70's compared with the 50's.

  • Sure the "impressive new 350 V8" is fine, but how about making it move with the impressive new 454!

  • @TomYpsilanti Not sure if the 454 was an option but my uncle had one of these and his had the 400-4bbl...impressive but thirsty for gas, though back then gas was 29.9 cents a gallon.

  • It sure beats driving a Toyota or a fucking Honda!!!!!!

  • Astro ventilation..wow what is this the MIllenium Falcon

  • OMG what id give to have one of those, that is a rare beauty,i always see 1970 Impalas never Caprices,i luv the wheel skirts!!!!!

  • hey i got one of those!

  • I wish Chevy would bring back the Caprice!!!

  • I thing the voice is Lloyd Bridges

  • love this thanks

  • lovely

  • my dad's first car was one of these. He said you could easily put 9 people in it and it got like 2 mpg. LAND YACHT to the core. Only got larger until 78.

  • Make mine the "Puke olive green metallic" with matching vinyl interior... LOL

  • Chevrolet's STILL on the move. Better than Ford, Dodge and Buick cenrturies, but Iiked the full-sized Buick 455s.

  • I had the Bel Aire. A/C, Power Steering, no power brakes. Had to really lean on the brakes to stop that thing.

  • That was my first car owned in life. But it did not have the concave back window glass. 350 cu 2 barrel. An 8 track on the floor.:)

  • The concave glass was only on the Caprice. You may have owned the Impala or Bel Aire model.

  • The concave rear window WAS AVAILABLE on the Impala along with the more fastback style roofline. BOTH Impala and Caprice had the concave back window. Do a search and take a look for yourself 6000Sabre !

  • Are you sure that was for the 65 thru 70 models and not the 71 thru 76 models?

  • Impala Custom coupe had the concave rear glass. It's roof line was more formal.

Impala Sport Coupe had the flush rear glass. It's roof line was sloped.

Being there wasn't much price difference between Caprice and Impala Custom Coupe, more buyers obviously opted for Caprice. Leaving even more budget minded buyers opting for Impala Sport Coupe.

As I said, Caprice had curved rear glass while [most] Impala, Bel Aire and Biscayne did not. I remember this well because my aunt owned a '68 Impala.

  • I have the sales lit from the full size 70 chevy line up. The back window you are talking about was on the Impala Custom Coupe and Caprice coupe. Those were the only two models available Electro-clear defroster. All the other models you could only get the forced air rear defroster. My grandmother had a 70 Impala 4 door sedan. On the option list was a rear manual antenna and her's had that.

  • My grandparents had a '70 Impala and a '64 Impala. When my grandfather retired they sold the '70 since it brought more on the sale and kept the '64. It stayed in the family and today I have the '64 for weekend drives and car shows. Those cars can turn heads today.

  • Nice car that anyone would be proud to pull up in, whether the office, a date, wedding, whatever. That was a great series of Chevrolets.

  • Sweet commercial. Hopefully some will pop up on here for 68's!

  • 1970 was a strike shortened year for GM, which is a shame. They produced some of their most beautiful cars that year.

  • compared to the Gm vehicles of today, that car had real class. :)

  • @alexcheetah79 . If it's anything like my parents 1969 model, try moving up to the Buick or Cadillac if you want " Real Class" LOL

  • I really loved those cars. It doesn't seem all that long ago when you'd still see them on the roads. Now you never do. A I really that old now! ;-)

  • Astro Ventilation was a forced fresh air system that came from vents under the dash into the passenger cabin. It was introduced when GM eliminated vent windows on their full-sized cars in 1969.

  • My Driver's Ed. Class had three 1970 full sized sedans: an Impala similar to this Capice, 350 and all, a Ford Galaxie with a 351, and a Dodge Polara with a 318.

We all ran for the Impala. It was smooth, quicker than the other two, and the TYM 350 transmision was clearly superior. No wind leaks in the Impala, unlike the Polara.

  • Check out those huge seats, and they all weren't an ugly gray color like the cars today. And astro ventilation too! I remember astro ventilation. WOW!!.

Plus Lloyd Bridges A.K.A. Mike Nelson narrates the commercial. He sold me.

  • Whats astro ventilation? I dont know what it is but I want it.

  • The hood was the size of a king-size mattress.

  • My mom had a gold 1970 Caprice (well, actually it was her parents and then they gave it to her). She sold it back in 1983 when I was just a young kid but I sure can remember sitting in that thing! Damn I wish I had that car NOW!

  • whats the differents between 70 scaprice and a 70's impla

  • caprice was basically a luxury version of the impala

  • yuuup

  • Thought it was the other way around.??

  • Nope, Impala was mainstream and sporty, the Caprice was luxurious.

  • OK.

  • About a thousand dollars.

  • In '58 the Impala was introduced as the top of the line and in '66 the Caprice was introduced as the top of the line for Chevrolet.

  • I had a 1969 Caprice. Biggest. Trunk. Ever.

  • I'll take this over the 2009 Malibu anyday!

  • lol "astro ventilation"

  • Great car-Gay commercial doesnt do it justice.

  • mandlebaum

  • LOL... I thought that sounded like Lloyd Bridges!

  • it's a repeat of the 1969.

  • Actually no, the grill along with the rear ends were moderately restyled. There bodies were fairly similar though, but not an exact repeat of 1970, no. Not to mention the nice 454 that could be had under the hood :P love the caprice!

  • i have a 70 JUST like that!!

n trust me i dont get tired of saying "no, its not an impala"

  • My parents had a '70 Impala sedan... looked a lot like the Caprice. The back window and trunk lid were different on the sedans, though.

  • gm-saab,subaru,suzuki,daewoo,saturn,pontiac,chevy,buick,cadillac,gmc,opel,holden,vauxhaul, i think i got them all

  • Souns like Lloyd Bridges is narrating this piece.

  • I think you're right.

  • wide, beauty curve, comfortable. nice car

  • I love these cars! I've got an 79 and 84 Caprice Coupe, I love these cars! The 79 is my rat rod and my 84 is my daily driver.

  • i wish gm would made those cars today

  • This video is priceless. I own a 1970 Caprice and viewing this video gives me a little more inside scoop for the 70's era. Specifically the competition that went own between auto makers.

  • Hey wilkes, Ford is an acronym, F&*%#$@ Owner is Really Dumb. Thought you should know! :D

  • hey wilkes, it also came with a couple cjoices of big blocks. Would spank a ford of comparable size and motor. I race stock cars in Alaska and the motor breaks (displacement) are as follows; Chev= 350. Mopar=360. Ford=400. Guess Ford needs a little help being competitve.

  • Comment removed

  • much love for old LTDs, my gramps had a 70. but the 350 was the STOCK engine for this car. it also came with big blocks like the 427 454.

  • Shut the hell up! fag son of bitch dont talk about a great car like the caprice I own an 87 it bee with me for over 20 years and it never faild me dumbshit

  • Far out!
