  • Masha'Allah tabarakallah wa ta'ala Great Debate between true brothers.

  • it would be good if someone could convert this debate to an article or blog post so one can analyze the arguments from both sides

  • If we become strict, then we should not even eat the meat slaughtered by those muslims involved in calling dead saints for help, or expecting the dead inside grave to listen, or elevate Imams.

Sura Akhlas is the evidence. Christians generally do shirk. When Quran refers to Ahle kitab, it refers to the general christians, not the exceptions among christians who do not do shirk.

Christians generally do trinity, or associate partners, that is their norm.

  • Another group says, it is halal if they say bismillah ( Christians don't say Bismillah)

another group says christians who do shirk, their meat is halal.

By the way, we also have muslims engaged in shirk like grave, saints, and elevating Ali (r) & shia imams to the level not given in the Quran or authentic hadeeth.

Islam gives room for practical reasons.

Christians at the prophets time believed that God begets or is begotten.

  • some muslims are adamant you cannot do eid unless you sight the moon.

some muslim agree you can use scientific knowledge to help the sighting.

Some muslims agree you can accept moon determination based on scientific knowledge that proves existence.

And, all sides respect the views of others.

There is similarity between moon sighting & zabeeha & haalal.

One group says ahle kibab (Quran clearly gives out haram meat) meat is halal.

  • Now that's what you call a debate.

  • where is part one?

  • @Mujah1 hmm am not sure what you mean by your comment but all the arguments they used ARE from the ahlus sunnah wal jamah scholars ya akhi. These arguments are actually well known for anyone who's looked in fiqh books. Also, it is well known that Imam Shafi doesn't see anything wrong with not saying Bismillah before slaughter while the majority disagree.

  • @thethinkingmuslim jizakallahu barakallahu fik also is one of these speakers saying that we can eat any meat even if it is not slaughtered correctly and from ahlul kitab, if that is the case here he is giving a sinful judgement and it is not funny at all.

  • ok, hey first of all these two speakers should have shuyukh from ahlis sunnah wal jama'ah to relie on , the Muslim Scholars said that he who gets knowledge from books, his knowledge is nill.

  • I just have to wonder why Allah would even bother to reveal a verse about slaughtering in a halal way if that wasn't the way that we should always eat our meat? how would anyone know when they chomp on a big mac that that meat wasn't slaughtered by an atheist or Hindu? if a Christian slaughters in the name of jesus we wouldnt eat it because it would not be halal in this case.

How could anyone eat meat not knowing if it was halal? I never hear a shaikh defend this until now .

  • @EvelynGB your right, no one can defend that and it is sinful to eat the haram not slaughtered correctly meat and it is sinful to give a judgement to make it permissible to eat that meat.

  • @EvelynGB your right, no one can defend that and it is sinful to eat the haram not slaughtered correctly meat and it is sinful to give a judgement to make it permissible to eat that meat. and we shouldnt let such a stupid person speak like this. and he even confesses to eating haram meat, what a stupid

  • Both verdicts are sound and correct, and Allaah (SWT) knows best which of the two has hit the mark. I however - as it prevails my thinking in examining the texts - have adopted the verdict which generally permits eating the food of the people of the Book, other than what has been specifically prohibited. This kind of disagreement is considered praiseworthy in Islaam.

  • sheikh waleed bassiouni should have been part of this debate as his opinion is we can eat Red Meat of Ahle-Kitaab is allowed. So 2 to 1, we win InshaAllah :). Allah knows best.

  • I wasn't satisfied by the explanation by Sk. Birjas about there not being a problem with eating chicken. Any pointers ?

  • although this is a very prominent issue, it is a very petty and trivial one. As muslims today, we should be concerned about bigger things like trying to get ahead and be the leaders of the world rather than arguing about these things internally. Everyone should make their choice and allah will judge everyone's actions. Let's not judge eachother, instead we need to be united to face the MAJOR problems facing us today.

  • @Imran92693 SubhanAllah, great reminder! JZK...!

  • to me this imam yasir birjas sounds very wrong though not 100% wrong since he said we are allowed to eat food from the people of the book. if there is no halal meat, we can always eat seafood, veggie, milk, egg, fruits. we are not gonna die if we cant find halal meat. Also, kosher slaughtered meat can be found almost everywhere in the US, if u want to eat meat that is, kosher meat is the next best choice to halal...halal, is the best ofcourse. kosher slaughter is also done very similar way.

  • @xvdmrecords if the meat is not slaughtered correctly then it is HARAM to eat and in the issue in if the meat is slaughtered correctly and bismillah is not said but no other words were said well there is difference of opinion on that by the top scholars in the Deen and the lay person can follow either judgement of a qualified Mujtahid like the scholars of the 4 school of fiqh,

  • subhanallah, my dad worked in a non muslim slaughter house in Canada and I can tell you for a fact that theydon't say bismillah nor slaughter the cow remotely close to halal or even kosher. The meat was slaughtered in the name of money. And they gutted these poor cows while they still had some life in them. My dad used to imitate he look on the cows faces when they were hooked and gutted. This was in the 70's.

I rather eat halal meat. And i would like to eat Mc Donalds again to.

  • just eat zabiha meat safer that way insha allah

  • how can you assume that just because we live in the west, the butchers are from ahl il-kitab? i want an answer because i'd love to start eating mcdonald's again.

anyway jazakallah khair for the upload.

  • @hamidq You can't assume. If you can check that your specific chicken or beef (on your plate) was butchered by ahlul kitaab then maybe you could, but I think that's almost impossible to check.

  • Very interesting debate...i hope we have such debates in the future insha Allah and also it is very encouraging that we can live with difference of opinions and stay away from wat i say is right and wat u say is not.
