  • I like that there's passion in darcy (this version), the colin firth one is a little wooden

  • I have watched this about 50 times and i'm still crying every time!

  • omg! english is not my first language but this movie i just love it in ENGLISH! gosh! i love these two actors! such chemistry in this movie! he makes feel TINGLING IN My hands! lol! my WHOLE BODY! how he talks to her! that accent and such manner! i just simply love the movies from this time! kinda like BECOMING JANE, THE DUCHESS, THE OTHER BOLEYN! old times! lol!

  • OMG 100x

    I love it...

  • its a nice scene but the way they speak is almost as if they're in modern times they would never argue like this i think its such a shame theyve interfered with the book so much its a classic without all these dramatic scenes in the rain the sexual tension is far more subtle (i confess i simply hate keira knightly as elizabeth bennet this may be shrowding my view :S)

  • ohhhhhh yes this scene is the best of the world. :$

  • anyway, this scene is the most emotional ive ever seen in my life! Its perfect! He is very talented by the way!

  • i disagree i think that its a realy cool movie

  • i LOVE this scene! he's sooo convincing! if i were elizabeth, i'd probably just completely fall in love with him then....he's so full of passion... <3

  • Ahhh, he had ME at "I love you. Most ardently." This scene is just so hot even though they're both drenched in the rain.

  • @monuorah

    me 2......mmmm....

  • I love this part but every time it makes me almost burst out crying cause Elizabeth is so harsh on him after he tells her he loves her with all his heart and iam reading the book and this is my favorite movie and so far book of all time

  • Intense, heart pounding hotness at 3:49. My heart drops every time I watch this scene as if I'm seeing it for the very first time. Whew!

  • When you look at it from her position, he just humiliated her perfectly. Told her that she is not good enough for him, too poor, no social credit, no anything, and then... asks her to marry him. I can relate to her feelings, because this is what happened to my mother and her Enmglish aristocratic "admirer" she had back in the 70s. He was such Mr. Darcy, too, told her the same. She declined him.

  • @Calucifer13

this story is good. then what happened?

  • i love this scene

  • i cant feel my heart open everytime i watch this scene. The greatest love story of all time... im so lame :P

  • @peoplestink90 join the "lame" Club!!!!! you have so many Companions in that! lol!

  • i love it...

  • ohhhh it's very intense...i like when he says i love you hahaha and ''oh,yes, his misfortunes'' hehe...i love this scene...

  • this is my favorite movie, I've seen it so many times I lost count....and this is my favorite scene, I actually memorized everything day say :)

  • lol I meant to say "they say" lol sorry about that LOL

  • This movie will last forever. It is perfect. This scene is even better than the proposal scene at the end of Sense and Sensibility...although that was really a tear jerker.

  • That is true, well i love all versions, they have their own parts that shine. But i think collin firths glare is sometimes seems forced but the detail there is great since it's a series as for this it's a movie so the detail had to be cut off to fit . At least that's my opinion :)

I just like matthews eyes, So sincere, is there a sincere glare? XD

  • i love the way he says"I love you"

  • Very intense! Wow!

  • Ohh, I LOVE this part! It's my favourite part nin the whole movie!

  • Jane Austen should be proud of having this two amazing actors playing Lizzi and Mr DARCY...he is absolutely PERFECT..

  • gorgeous love story....

  • omg.... loving Matthew Macfadyen right now!!!!!!!!

  • te amo gordipepa~~~~~~~

  • goodness i cant get enough of this part, its amazing how much they love each other but they have so much pride. This is my all time fav movie :)

  • *knows the lines by heart* <3

  • me too i can't get it out of my had i know it like the abcs

  • Thank you for this upload with the english subtitles!

I think, this suppressed kissing wish of his was exactly the right way to unleash HER ardent passion for him. Subtle movie script and gorgeous acting...

  • matthew macfadyen aint he yummy :P

    love mr.darcy <3

hehe i also love how he so sarcy about mr.wickham lol you go darcy!!! beat his ass lol

  • yeah, he is so adorable *-*

  • love him. <3 this is the best scene.

  • my favorite scene of this movie is when elizabeth meets georgiana, it's the onle scene he smiles and he is so kissable there!!!

but i think that he is more beautiful a mr.darcy than he is as matthew mcfadyen...

  • i know! when i saw that part i practically screamed to the top of my lungs and i almost fainted!!! such a sexy smile.......... omfg i LOOOOOVVVEE him!!!!!

  • ELIZABETH PANTING. OH MY.

  • We just re-watched this movie recently, and my sister, the Anglophile, was so-so about this version of 'Pride and Prejudice'. I, on the other hand, can only say, "I -heart- Mr. Darcy."

  • I wish Darcy kissed her in this part! It's the best scene between them in this movie. I can tell they really wanted to kiss!!!!

  • darcy surely wanted, but i think elizabeth didnt. in the movie, she acted like she wanted, but nooooot in the book!!

  • Yea, she is supposed to hate him sooo much at this point in the story, its kinda off that she is attracted to him at all.

  • I lovee thiss partt of movie

  • 3:41 to 3:50 . . . so much sexual tension! Whoo!

  • I think thats one of the biggest differences between this version and the 1995 one. I thin k it makes the 1995 more "proper" for its time, since people just didn't act like this in the time of this novel. However, its definitely more "sexually exciting" so its an interesting take on P&P. I still like the 1995 one better though and I actually think its way more romantic, even if there isn't sexual tension ;) I still swoon about that one way more hehe.

  • i like this version better..i dont know why but the old version deosnt evoke as much feelings for me

  • I love his voice! He's so perfect!!!

It's very funny when he says: "Could you expect me to rejoice in the inferiority of your circumstances?"

  • @3:47, he so wanted to kiss her and she wanted to kiss him, they should've, lol.....

  • I know I will get thumbs down for saying this, but this version of the scene can't even compare to the greatness of the original in 1995 with the wonderful Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy. I almost can't see the true feelings of this Mr. Darcy, and the tension isn't so big here. Please watch the original here "pride & prejudice (1995) episode 3 (part 6_6)" before you reply or thumb me down. I am allowed my own opinion, and I respect all of you who like this one better.

  • I confess I'm weak for Colin Firth :) And I also like the original Elizabeth's acting in this scene better.

  • i have to agree with you, although this version was very good and it was nice to see some new actors having a go at one of the greatest literature pieces of all time, the 1995 version is so good, Firth's greatest performance, he's so real in it.

  • Though I agree with you, I am partial to my Mr. Colin Firth, who is the one and only Darcy, lol...Mathew does a great job and I truly love when he says, "Mr. Wickham" and when he says, "are you rejecting me?" It's a great scene nonetheless.

  • hahaha i agree about how he says "Mr. Wickham"

  • i agree, colin firths performance in that series was top of the class, from what i have seen of this movie i like colin firth better, but i think i like the new elizabeth better . this scene was much more exaggerated than in the old one but i think they are both good, just in different ways. the language is much more true to the book in the old one as well, which i prefer. i havent seen all of this movie though.

  • I think both movies are great in different ways.

  • i wish we still talked like this....it seems more intellectual and polite..i don't know...i just think it's really cool that our world used to speak with such eloquence.now if ou talked like this people would think you're crazy

  • This is the best scene EVER!!!! In ANY movie... After she's says, "...prevailed upon to marry," he stops, and he looks like he's going to kiss her, and it makes me MELT!!! *thud*

  • OMG!!! Can't you just die? I love this movie but this scene is the absolute best.....

  • Most definitely!! Mr. Darcy = perfection. I just finished reading that scene in the book, and even though it's completely different, they both make my heart melt....

  • I know exactly what you mean! Every time he comes up in this movie, my heart melts.. im in love! hehe

  • It makes me melt too!!! lol

  • "please do me the honor of accepting my hand"

I find that line soooooooooo adorable... ^_^

This is my favorite movie version of this classic novel by far

    THANKS!!

  • with this scene, I noticed Matthew has a beautiful voice and has a really good chemisty with Lizzy.

This movie is going to be one of the most classical movies all time.

  • Matthew M looks somehow like a baby boy in this vid. vulnerable. his mouth is cute.his eyes are imploringly attractive. his face in general is delicate. Colin 's face is also good but not so gentle. May be what makes him(c) more gentleman-like is his curly hair.
