Sad to say, Knotts Landing was the best. It lasted the longest out of all of them. I liked Dynasty, Loved the Colby's and Dallas was okay. But Knotts is the best!!!
Wonderful opening for a show. I always noticed that John Jame's bars went up and disappeared much slower than any of the other stars. And it was more beautiful this way. I will always believe television peaked in the 80's -- I'm so glad I was there!
My mom used to watch this show all the time, I even learned this song on the piano by ear and played it for my mom as a mother's day and birthday present.
Estas series como Dinastia, Dalas, El Bote del Amor, Starky y Huch, Koyak, Falcon Crest son unos iconos de la TV norteamericana y ya se consideran unos clasicos.
A show about corruption, corporate greed, excessively bloated lifestyles, adultry, sex, lies, back stabbing, men and women who marry several times, aquisitions, take overs, and how the very few at the top live like kings on the backs of the middle class and poor....Things havent changed much...
Dynasty and Melrose Place are Spellings greatest soaps in the world tv history
and of corse the greatest teen tv show ever Beverly Hills 90210... i think there will be no other tv shows like them... the after spelling aeria is a big headache for the television today... thats why they showing only poor reallity and talent shows. Even Darren Star and E. Duke Vincent don't want make new shows... just remakes of BH90210 and Melrose Place, but the originals are always better
I knew i was gay for sure after watching this show, I had the hots for Stephen like nothing else, I use to watch this show just to see him even if it was for only a few minutes in the hour, it was worth it, I was devistaed when he left it (Al)
And did all noticed Linda Evans a bit fuller coming down the steps in the black dress, later on she did lose the weight. I like the first season too. It was all seen through Krystal's eye's and from she was coming from and going into. Her learning the rich ways of living and being a mistress to a huge mansion, 48 eight rooms. Can you imagine. Back the Blake was a mean bastard, Fallon was suspicious like always. And Steven, well Steven was a wounded soul, and became a friend to Krystals needing.
This was when dynasty was still a normal drama, even in season 2 were still normal season 3 onwards turned it werid with a long lost son adam coming in to the picture fallon dissaperaing then killed off then coming back from the dead with a different face, another long lost child amanda turns up to fill fallons shoes,
moldavia, a spin off that lasted 2 years, ufos, then nazi tresure and a james bond styled reunion in the early 90s, boy
The season opening credits was the best out of all of them. It seemed more majestic then the others. It seems after season one the producers became lazy and just made the opening sound cheesy!
Thank you so much. I love these tunes. I used to watch Dynasty with my mum when I was 5!!!, and it's wonderful hearing/watching it again. You're a star :-)
Honestly, it was just in flux as they were trying to get the show going. Remember, Dynasty didn't hit its stride until season 2 and kept it until 5 or 6--depending upon your point of view.
It has i well because i remember to hear it many years ago but the end of the music was different during the appearence of bo hoskins. This is maybe the first version or the second
It's all based on how the actor's agent negotiates billing. Generally, the more experience and better known you are, the better billing you get. Of course, John and Linda were going to get the first two places - they were established stars in the lead roles.
I would agree that John Forsythe was an established star;he had been around for years. However Linda Evans was a bit of a parvenu;in fact the producers had Angie Dickinson down initially for the role of Krystle.
steve, John Forsythe and Linda Evans had played together in a short-lived sitcom before "Dynasty". And another actor played Blake before Forsythe replaced him. The same pilot was filmed twice with both actors as Blake.
Just not the same without Joan Collins. But I loved Al Corley as Steven! He played him better and with more passion. I also loved Pamala Bellwood as Claudia!
Sad to say, Knotts Landing was the best. It lasted the longest out of all of them. I liked Dynasty, Loved the Colby's and Dallas was okay. But Knotts is the best!!!

This season's theme tune had a slight difference to it compared to the others.
Katy Kurtzman's (Lindsay) fifteen minutes of fame didn't last long. I don't think I recall seeing her in anything else after this.

I agree...I'll take this over what we have nowadays. And I'm a year younger than you.
The theme sounds weird without that signature melody which shows up in the second verse.

I like this version, too, though it needs a more dramatic ending to it, instead of just fizzling out.
celebratingthesoaps 5 years ago
This is the best version in my opinion. It actually has a serious dramatic quality about it, kind of epic.
