Honestly, this song is great, the ending being especially epic, but that key change at 1:55 is just awful. I cringe every time I hear it. I love Anberlin, but what were they thinking?
My favorite song of all time! Number one piece played on my ipod by far. listened to it so many times in a row. Told my brother I want it played at my funeral.
i think where it says "on the way he declared there were". its really "he declared the war". the war referring to Revelations 13 verse 7, where he was granted to make war with the saints. Miracles like you've never seen could be referring to either Rev 13:3, where the beast's head is healed, or in verse 15 when an "image" of the beast is given life. Verse 13 it says he performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. hence miracles
@PurplePerfection its based off of revelations the last book in the bible which talks about how god saves us at the end of the world. Revelations is all about the devil coming on earth and gathering his army and god doing the same for his followers and it talks about a great battle at the end. So technically it is eerie because revelations is pretty eerie.
Seriously guys? How pathetic. Im listening to a song and i look in the comments section and i see that both top comments are debating christianity vs evolution. And God created evolution...really? @jesmock I don't know the full argument but just because Stephen is Christian I don't think we can group anyone else in the group as christian also. I don't remember them ever explicitly talking about it, nor is Anberlin a christian band. But people really shouldn't have debates about Evolution or Creationism here. @TheEMOSTEVEN Yeah, I noticed it yesterday in my car with the volume and bass on max. I typically hate heavy bass, but this song is amazing with the bass all the way up.

if you are a believer, you hate when someone argues and fights trying to shove their beliefs down your throat, so why are you doing that exact thing? all you can do is pray for the people you are attacking. no where in the bible does it say to hate someoone b/c they believe something different, when in actuality, you should love them all the more. jesus didnt hang out with preists and holymen, he went amongst the tax collectors and prostetutes and showed them the love of god. act christ like.
@badarse57 I am a follower of christ...many "christians" give the whole religion a bad rap. as followers we are not perfect nor should we claim to be. i know i screw up so many times a day that i cannot even count, but i know that i am saved by god because i have asked for forgiveness and devoted my life to him. i will not fight you on your beliefs, because that would not be christlike. all i myself can do is pray for you that someday you may find god.
Wow.. Anberlin is my alltime favorite band and will always be my favorite band.. I can't see how I missed such a great song. I've never heard this before!
i cant believe people still argue evolution.. lmao. put your bible down and turn the tv to discovery channel once in a while.. spend your time reading some constructive material.
not to louse my point here.. this song is very well done and i cant stop listening to it. the voice of the singer expresses a lot of emotion. something thats very rear with todays singers.
@acroracing Considering the fact the all 5 of the members of the band are Christians, you may want to stop attempting to shove your beliefs down others throats. This is not to say that I am necissarity "Christian," but I see no harm in people wanting to believe in something higher, and more pure than themselves. Many find it comforting to believe that everything happens for a reason, and to believe that there is something more to this life than what we can see.
im not promoting anything here.. if anything this song is promoting religion. right??? dont get over emotional and go preacher on me.. be nice.. what do u mean SHOVE your beliefs... not nice.
OKAY, Just because you beleive in Evolution or really anything scientific or factual doesn't mean you aren't a good Christian! I mean, Science answers the question "how", not "why"! The things science explains can be just an explanation of how God has worked, not whether or not he exists.
Christian seems to have a lot of random bible references and has the ability to conjugate them very well to create an apocaplytic atmosphere. This song is amazing.
I am a Christian and I love science. I can not 100% prove that God is real and Science can not prove anything 100%. It's useless to argue. At the end of the day we should be loving each other; not fighting over what theories are or are not true.
wooooooo! I love the music! I love the lyrics! I love the message! The only thing I dont understand... its... what does ''red priest'' mean? a Christian person? (not catholic) a Pastor? please! somebody explaiin me! hehehe
Evolution is a very likely theory - but evolution can't explain how things came to be in the first place. The big bang theory attempts to do that, and that's just as hard to prove as whether there's a God. We really just don't know - and it's rather vain of any atheist to think that their theory is any better.
This song should appreciated for what it is. Just because there are people who believe in what the song is about, it doesn't make them necessarily stupid. Likewise, those who believe in something different are not necessarily stupid. Why can't anyone listen to what they want and believe what they want without judging someone else? It would be hypocritical either way to judge someone else.
This song is amazing, regardless of whether your religious beliefs happen to coincide with that of the band's. Appreciate the music for what it is, and let's not bother too much about whether this song is or isn't 'christian'.
@LightMeteora I believe it means "A wretched sight" Ex Malo Bonum is, "Out of evil comes good" if you were wondering that as well. I think that is correct at least.
@zinnyzxx You're an idiot, they've given loads of evidence that I suppose you're choosing to ignore. Evolution is accepted by the scientific community and applied in modern agriculture and medicine.
@zinnyzxx i agree, like a dog can turn into a poodle and still be a dog, but there aint no way a fish turned into a lizrd that turned into a mouse that turned into an ape that turned into a man.. but thats what i think.
micro evolution is fine. that is changes within the species . macro is the illogical one. that is changes from species to species . like dinosaurs becoming bluejays .
@kaiclarkstar be careful, brother. Indeed, it is hard to prove evolution flat out wrong, but there is a reason it is a only a theory, and will always be just that. God Bless :)
@NovaShadowBlade It's not a theory, nice job showing that you've never read a single article on Evolution. Do yourself a favor and look up "scientific theory".
@jlc6290 Not a theory? Can you show me an article where it's proven fact? Fact cannot be disproven. Perhaps my definition of "theory" is incorrect according to you, and that's just something I'll have to live with for the rest of my life, but I don't think I'll lose too much sleep. FACT is, its not proven, never will be. End of story.
@NovaShadowBlade FACT is NOTHING is PROVEN in science. Absolute proofs only exist in mathematics. A SCIENTIFIC THEORY means that there is so much evidence in favor of said theory that it is generally accepted as "fact". Other scientific theories include Cell Theory, Germ Theory, Gravity, and Plate Tectonics. Yes, Evolution is accepted just as much as Gravity is. Yes, your definition of "SCIENTIFIC THEORY" is incorrect according to EVERYONE, not just me.
@jlc6290 I'm not going to try and unroot evolution, how can I? All scientific evidence points to it being our origin. And you are right, my own ignorance has hindered me. I stand corrected before you. But that makes no difference. Trust, love, happiness, grief, betrayal, wrath, lust, pride, greed, where in evolution did these come? And for what purpose? Emotion only impairs our judgment, why do we possess it? Evolution means to evolve, but is emotion really beneficial?
@NovaShadowBlade It's extremely beneficial, it dictates how we behave according to a situation. Your emotions can be measured, as they are biochemical reactions to various aspects of your environment. Just google Evolution of Emotion. As far as you standing corrected, that makes all the difference. Being open to new ideas and theories is what science is all about. If new evidence comes to light that contradicts Evolution, then Evolution will be adjusted, or even replaced accordingly.
@jlc6290 But on the flip side, it is also very damaging. Too much happiness only leads to disappointment, depression makes people kill themselves, anger makes people do things they normally wouldn't do, fear is a win-lose emotion bc it will either hold you back or propel you forward. Envy and jealousy are ugly masks to wear as well. I can't neccessarily prove evolution wrong, its too complicated at this point, and i know not much on it. But that doesn't mean its right ;) no disrespect though!
@stonedpimpdaddy How has Christianity (or any other religion for that matter) proven itself to be true? A book and a "prophet"? Compared to thousands of years of scientific observation (even when Catholic Church did everything in its power to silence anyone who strayed from its blood-soaked path), a book and "prophet" don't seem like much evidence.
I love atheism and I love good music (like Anberlin, one of the best bands ever imho).
@poisin224 Christianity relies on faith rather than fact. Scientist are supposed rely on logical, empirical evidence, which is sometimes considered to be fact, when it is actually not proven. Scientific methods, hypothesis and theories are 'supposed' to be factual when sometimes in reality, they are not. I don't believe is atheism. There are no atheist in foxholes. I just heard this band for the first time. Not my preferred taste, but talented none the less.
@kaiclarkstar science hasen't proven anything. evolution is a THEORY not proved. Though, you make a somewhat good point. Not like im going to change your mind though. As long as your happy and content with what you believe, nothing else really matters. Thats the way it is, however I wish it weren't. Am i right or wrong? tell me.
@kaiclarkstar - science has yet to prove that evolution is true. what it has shown us is that living organisms have a tendency to adapt to changes and environments through genetic mutation.
See how I stated an opinion without degrading another person or group? That's called discretion and/or tact.
@Ubersnipe - and evolution is what exactly? It's a process of living organisms adapting themselves to different environments... So when you say that science has proved that organisms adapt then it's obvious that science has proved evolution... How about we turn this argument around... Will someone please prove to me the existence of god? Come on give me proof. And no having faith is not a proof.
@kaiclarkstar Oi! I realize this comment is a few months old, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents regardless. Actually, I've put a fair amount of time into this subject (Evolution vs. Creation/Intelligent Design), and, keeping in mind that science cannot "prove" anything, I've found the evidence to be in favor of intelligent design. Feel free to challenge me on this, as I'd love to hear your argument, but be careful what you call stupid my friend, or you my find your words turning on you :P
@badarse57 "you" means "you christians" or really just "you"? I'm not to blame for what christians or so called people do. I'm also not responsible for them. at least not for everyone of them. please don't compare me with church's representatives (or whoever) you met that probably dissappointed you in some way.. they're not me, and they're not Jesus. and not every "christian" is like every "christian".
@badarse57 just an expression of what i am feeling for guys like you. and if you're christian it's definitely NOT an appealing extra. it's hard. maybe you should forget about some of your prejudices
I am glad that so many atheists can listen to this song and hear how beautiful it is, even if they do not believe in a god, and they do not automatically dismiss the band for being Christian. I am an atheist and I can appreciate how wonderful this band is. :)

this band is so awesome! i only knew a few songs from anberlin, but i just got 3 albums from them, and they rock! on every way, especiialy the way they sing, so pure... but the synthezizers they use are not always that good:P, still love it a 100 % !
@hiroroden57 one of the signs of the coming end of the world is that the moon will turn blood red. the water of blood comes afterwords when the world's ending has come.
This is my opinion about the chorus. The child says:I turn to your hand hold this tight while we run if we still can. Jesus says in Mathew 19:14 "Let the little children come to me. Don't stop them!" So I think that the words in the chorus is Jesus talking and giving hope to those suffering.
Revelations 6:12 " I learned when He broke the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquaken (The earth will shake); and the sun became black as a sackloth made of hair,(The sun will turn dark very soon) and the whole moon became like blood (your days are numbered when there's blood on the moon).
I know that "Ex Malo Bonum" means "Good out of bad" (Literally, "Out of bad, good"). I think "Miserabile Visu" means a "Sorrowful Vision". I tried using an online translator, which translated it as "sadly vision", which doesn't literally make sense.
@CorbanNoah I actually got 'Ex Malo Bonum' as 'Out of choice, good' (my translator listed 'malo' as a verb meaning 'to choose/prefer'). I suppose it could be a form of the noun 'malus', but I don't know the endings that well. I wonder if the phrase was deliberately chosen to have two meanings (both of which fit the message), or if this is just a side effect of online dictionaries? Wish there was a latin scholar out there to clear this up ... :)
@ejlesthen having studied latin for five years, 'out of choice, good' doesn't make any sense to me as a translation, since 'malo' is a verb and cannot be used as a noun. but if you're looking for an alternative meaning that will actually make sense, malum can mean apple (or a similar fruit), and malus can mean apple tree. therefore, the alternative meaning may have something to do with the tree of knowledge and mankind's fall from grace, but still there is good to be found in this world. (:
@gmjproductions i did a bit of googling and 'ex malo bonum' is from an st. augustine speech when he contradicts someone else who once said that 'bonum ex malo non fit' (good does not come from evil), so st. augustine said that it does, or something. so yeah, 'ex malo bonum' should normally mean good from evil/bad. miserabile visu comes up once or twice in virgil's aeneid and just means 'wretched sight' or something similar.
@ejlesthen Yeah, sometimes I think online translators just make it more confusing. For all we know, it could mean "I love peanut butter" (but I highly doubt it does ;-) ).
I love anberlin. I'm a little amazed how I find 80% songs in each album so great. but sometimes I really think I would've liked a handful of their songs more if they didn't have religious references and elements
I listen to iron maiden equally as much, and they have a few songs with religious references, but I absolutely adore them inspite of *shrugs*
@Krawna Again, we cannot simply ignore religious references, as they are a prt of the artist's message, even if we do not agree with them. Biblical texts enhance art because of how common the Bible is to all men. Whether one is a believer or not, all men must take the message OUT OF the music, and not put his own message INTO the music.
"Immediately after the distress of those days " 'the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken." Mark 24:29
"From a man who was raised up in the sea"-- The first beast that was raised from the sea, is the same one that is referenced in Rev. 13:1, (which is the man that is coming in thirteen-one)
Not big on the religion theme, but i really dont care about that--when i look for new artists the first thing i do is listen to the MUSIC, not the lyrics--either way, the lyrics arent bad even from my point of view--actually really cool--end of the world and all--very cool, not contrivercial.. =']
@meteorhero526 You can't just be "Not big on the religion theme;" when listening to/looking at art, we must try to understand what the artist is communication. Here, Anberlin is communicating a biblical view of eschatology. An artist uses the music and the lyrics together to communicate a worldview. You cannot listen to one or the other. You may not agree with the message, but you cannot skew the message that IS there.
Then that interpretation is eisegeting, and is incorrect. Perhaps you should create your own art with that message? I do not say this sarcastically, but earnestly suggest you make your way in the world with art that communicates what YOU believe. I do, however, pray with all of my being that you come to know Christ.
I love this song! The lyrics are awesome! It is very obvious it's talking about the end of the age, the seven year tribulation and the antichrist. Really makes you think deep!!
well some interesting religious stuff goin on here, i personally am an atheist, but i respect artwork from all religions and this song is great so........
@XxGODAPOLLOxX i respect u. finally, an atheist that respects other religions. im a christian and will let you believe want u want to but you sound like someone that God loves dearly and wishes you'd accept him in your life
I love this song! this makes me feel so calm and relaxed, and I simply love the lyrics :) they're like nothing you'd ever hear in any other song. my favorite phrases are "a man is coming in 13:1" and "Look children to the eastern sky"
The Messiah (aka Jesus) was supposed to come from the east in Jewish culture. So when they say "Look children to the eastern sky" they might be referencing Christ's return. Just some 2 cent. :D
Great song. Anberlin is very very gifted at representing their faith while still being able to reach out to mainstream music listeners. I'm against worship music, because it doesn't reach out to people....only people that listen to it are already Christians, but Anberlin has found that happy medium between worship and secular music. Absolutely love em!
Well said Mattmadla, Islam stole alot of biblical themes, but they refused to accept God's Christ Jesus and went about setting up their black rock of pagan worship in the Kabba in Mecca. They stole the glory of God's Christ, Jesus and gave it to Mohammed.
if you were wondering what they meant by look children to the eastern skies (when your fathers weak and your mother cries) is, in revelation it says when the end is near there will be many false messiahs. if you hear any1 say, "it is the messiah!" or "the messiah is over there" that means its false. when the end is near, look to the eastern sky to see the lightening strike the ground showing that the messiah is here.
Back in high school, I was very anti-Christian, a born again Athiest I guess you could call me. If I had heard that back then I would scoff at these lyrics and pass this song off as Christian rock bullshit. But now that I've grown up and gained a more observant, fair stance on Christianity, I find the lyrics to be beautifully inspired. Rather than the religious undertones be annoying, I find them very interesting and respect this band more because of them.
Honestly, this song is great, the ending being especially epic, but that key change at 1:55 is just awful. I cringe every time I hear it. I love Anberlin, but what were they thinking?

@badarse57 I am a follower of christ...many "christians" give the whole religion a bad rap. as followers we are not perfect nor should we claim to be. i know i screw up so many times a day that i cannot even count, but i know that i am saved by god because i have asked for forgiveness and devoted my life to him. i will not fight you on your beliefs, because that would not be christlike. all i myself can do is pray for you that someday you may find god.

i cant believe people still argue evolution.. lmao. put your bible down and turn the tv to discovery channel once in a while.. spend your time reading some constructive material.
not to louse my point here.. this song is very well done and i cant stop listening to it. the voice of the singer expresses a lot of emotion. something thats very rear with todays singers.
acroracing 1 year ago
@acroracing Considering the fact the all 5 of the members of the band are Christians, you may want to stop attempting to shove your beliefs down others throats. This is not to say that I am necissarity "Christian," but I see no harm in people wanting to believe in something higher, and more pure than themselves. Many find it comforting to believe that everything happens for a reason, and to believe that there is something more to this life than what we can see.

OKAY, Just because you beleive in Evolution or really anything scientific or factual doesn't mean you aren't a good Christian! I mean, Science answers the question "how", not "why"! The things science explains can be just an explanation of how God has worked, not whether or not he exists.
SO STOP ARGUING!
And at least talk more about the beautiful song!

@ASkylitChrysyde If you google them, you can find them quickly. But many of the verses has to do with the anti christ
zinnyzxx 1 year ago
@ASkylitChrysyde when he says 13:1 hes talking about revelation 13:1 in the bible
crazy4switchfoot1 10 months ago
@ASkylitChrysyde I think it's Mathews 14:25-27 rather than Daniel. I believe he refers to Christ, with "miracles", not to the animals in Daniel.
Also:
"sun will turn dark": Joel 2:9, Mathews 24:29, Mark 13:24, Acts 2:20, Revelation 6:12, Revberlation 9:2
"blood on the moon": Joel 2:31, Acts 2:20
Christian seems to have a lot of random bible references and has the ability to conjugate them very well to create an apocaplytic atmosphere. This song is amazing.

I am a Christian and I love science. I can not 100% prove that God is real and Science can not prove anything 100%. It's useless to argue. At the end of the day we should be loving each other; not fighting over what theories are or are not true.

Evolution is a very likely theory - but evolution can't explain how things came to be in the first place. The big bang theory attempts to do that, and that's just as hard to prove as whether there's a God. We really just don't know - and it's rather vain of any atheist to think that their theory is any better.
naadiavf 1 year ago
This song should appreciated for what it is. Just because there are people who believe in what the song is about, it doesn't make them necessarily stupid. Likewise, those who believe in something different are not necessarily stupid. Why can't anyone listen to what they want and believe what they want without judging someone else? It would be hypocritical either way to judge someone else.

kimixbrushedxred 1 year ago
@kaiclarkstar be careful, brother. Indeed, it is hard to prove evolution flat out wrong, but there is a reason it is a only a theory, and will always be just that. God Bless :)
NovaShadowBlade 1 year ago
@NovaShadowBlade It's not a theory, nice job showing that you've never read a single article on Evolution. Do yourself a favor and look up "scientific theory".
jlc6290 1 year ago
@jlc6290 Not a theory? Can you show me an article where it's proven fact? Fact cannot be disproven. Perhaps my definition of "theory" is incorrect according to you, and that's just something I'll have to live with for the rest of my life, but I don't think I'll lose too much sleep. FACT is, its not proven, never will be. End of story.
NovaShadowBlade 1 year ago
@NovaShadowBlade FACT is NOTHING is PROVEN in science. Absolute proofs only exist in mathematics. A SCIENTIFIC THEORY means that there is so much evidence in favor of said theory that it is generally accepted as "fact". Other scientific theories include Cell Theory, Germ Theory, Gravity, and Plate Tectonics. Yes, Evolution is accepted just as much as Gravity is. Yes, your definition of "SCIENTIFIC THEORY" is incorrect according to EVERYONE, not just me.
jlc6290 1 year ago
@jlc6290 I'm not going to try and unroot evolution, how can I? All scientific evidence points to it being our origin. And you are right, my own ignorance has hindered me. I stand corrected before you. But that makes no difference. Trust, love, happiness, grief, betrayal, wrath, lust, pride, greed, where in evolution did these come? And for what purpose? Emotion only impairs our judgment, why do we possess it? Evolution means to evolve, but is emotion really beneficial?
NovaShadowBlade 1 year ago
@NovaShadowBlade It's extremely beneficial, it dictates how we behave according to a situation. Your emotions can be measured, as they are biochemical reactions to various aspects of your environment. Just google Evolution of Emotion. As far as you standing corrected, that makes all the difference. Being open to new ideas and theories is what science is all about. If new evidence comes to light that contradicts Evolution, then Evolution will be adjusted, or even replaced accordingly.
jlc6290 1 year ago
@jlc6290 But on the flip side, it is also very damaging. Too much happiness only leads to disappointment, depression makes people kill themselves, anger makes people do things they normally wouldn't do, fear is a win-lose emotion bc it will either hold you back or propel you forward. Envy and jealousy are ugly masks to wear as well. I can't neccessarily prove evolution wrong, its too complicated at this point, and i know not much on it. But that doesn't mean its right ;) no disrespect though!
NovaShadowBlade 1 year ago
@kaiclarkstar How has science proven The "Theory" of Evolution?
stonedpimpdaddy 1 year ago
@stonedpimpdaddy How has Christianity (or any other religion for that matter) proven itself to be true? A book and a "prophet"? Compared to thousands of years of scientific observation (even when Catholic Church did everything in its power to silence anyone who strayed from its blood-soaked path), a book and "prophet" don't seem like much evidence.
I love atheism and I love good music (like Anberlin, one of the best bands ever imho).
poisin224 1 year ago

Am i right or wrong? tell me.
ipantis 1 year ago
@kaiclarkstar - science has yet to prove that evolution is true. what it has shown us is that living organisms have a tendency to adapt to changes and environments through genetic mutation.
See how I stated an opinion without degrading another person or group? That's called discretion and/or tact.
Ubersnipe 1 year ago
@Ubersnipe - and evolution is what exactly? It's a process of living organisms adapting themselves to different environments... So when you say that science has proved that organisms adapt then it's obvious that science has proved evolution... How about we turn this argument around... Will someone please prove to me the existence of god? Come on give me proof. And no having faith is not a proof.
Goran1408986 1 year ago
@kaiclarkstar then you must not believe in the bible. because if you did, then you would outright deny evolution .
the evolutionist view is so illogical , so anti truth, that it leaves people believing it intellectually bankrupt .

01whiplash10 10 months ago
@kaiclarkstar Oi! I realize this comment is a few months old, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents regardless. Actually, I've put a fair amount of time into this subject (Evolution vs. Creation/Intelligent Design), and, keeping in mind that science cannot "prove" anything, I've found the evidence to be in favor of intelligent design. Feel free to challenge me on this, as I'd love to hear your argument, but be careful what you call stupid my friend, or you my find your words turning on you :P

This is my opinion about the chorus. The child says:I turn to your hand hold this tight while we run if we still can. Jesus says in Mathew 19:14 "Let the little children come to me. Don't stop them!" So I think that the words in the chorus is Jesus talking and giving hope to those suffering.

I know that "Ex Malo Bonum" means "Good out of bad" (Literally, "Out of bad, good"). I think "Miserabile Visu" means a "Sorrowful Vision". I tried using an online translator, which translated it as "sadly vision", which doesn't literally make sense.
CorbanNoah 1 year ago
@CorbanNoah I actually got 'Ex Malo Bonum' as 'Out of choice, good' (my translator listed 'malo' as a verb meaning 'to choose/prefer'). I suppose it could be a form of the noun 'malus', but I don't know the endings that well. I wonder if the phrase was deliberately chosen to have two meanings (both of which fit the message), or if this is just a side effect of online dictionaries? Wish there was a latin scholar out there to clear this up ... :)
ejlesthen 1 year ago
@ejlesthen having studied latin for five years, 'out of choice, good' doesn't make any sense to me as a translation, since 'malo' is a verb and cannot be used as a noun. but if you're looking for an alternative meaning that will actually make sense, malum can mean apple (or a similar fruit), and malus can mean apple tree. therefore, the alternative meaning may have something to do with the tree of knowledge and mankind's fall from grace, but still there is good to be found in this world. (:
fadingwind 1 year ago
@fadingwind good from bad?
gmjproductions 1 year ago
@gmjproductions i did a bit of googling and 'ex malo bonum' is from an st. augustine speech when he contradicts someone else who once said that 'bonum ex malo non fit' (good does not come from evil), so st. augustine said that it does, or something. so yeah, 'ex malo bonum' should normally mean good from evil/bad. miserabile visu comes up once or twice in virgil's aeneid and just means 'wretched sight' or something similar.
fadingwind 1 year ago
@ejlesthen Yeah, sometimes I think online translators just make it more confusing. For all we know, it could mean "I love peanut butter" (but I highly doubt it does ;-) ).

I love anberlin. I'm a little amazed how I find 80% songs in each album so great. but sometimes I really think I would've liked a handful of their songs more if they didn't have religious references and elements
I listen to iron maiden equally as much, and they have a few songs with religious references, but I absolutely adore them inspite of *shrugs*
Krawna 2 years ago 2
@Krawna Again, we cannot simply ignore religious references, as they are a prt of the artist's message, even if we do not agree with them. Biblical texts enhance art because of how common the Bible is to all men. Whether one is a believer or not, all men must take the message OUT OF the music, and not put his own message INTO the music.

meteorhero526 2 years ago 3
@meteorhero526 You can't just be "Not big on the religion theme;" when listening to/looking at art, we must try to understand what the artist is communication. Here, Anberlin is communicating a biblical view of eschatology. An artist uses the music and the lyrics together to communicate a worldview. You cannot listen to one or the other. You may not agree with the message, but you cannot skew the message that IS there.
luke1tothe37 1 year ago 4
@luke1tothe37 i do understand what the artist is trying to relay here, but l i dont deny the message, i do interpert it in a different way.
meteorhero526 1 year ago
Then that interpretation is eisegeting, and is incorrect. Perhaps you should create your own art with that message? I do not say this sarcastically, but earnestly suggest you make your way in the world with art that communicates what YOU believe. I do, however, pray with all of my being that you come to know Christ.

if you were wondering what they meant by look children to the eastern skies (when your fathers weak and your mother cries) is, in revelation it says when the end is near there will be many false messiahs. if you hear any1 say, "it is the messiah!" or "the messiah is over there" that means its false. when the end is near, look to the eastern sky to see the lightening strike the ground showing that the messiah is here.
