1:04-1:12- No way! Paul talks very clearly in 1 Corinthians 14 about the purpose of tongues. 1 Cor. 14:4 says tounges is for edifying oneself. Also 14:27-28 clearly says that tongues can be interpereted for the edification of the Body of Christ. We do need to be wise as serpents in this time but we also need to be discerning! Test everything and hold onto the good. Tongues is a gift from God that is for the edification of ones spirit and the Church, don't throw out the baby with the bath water.

@mattblader no one is throwing anything. yes people still can have the gift of tongues, But the power of the holy spirit is something else. no one has this power: the power to RAISE THE DEAD, AND HEAL THE SICK. yes the gift of tongues is like the other gifts in Cor. chapter 11. the way to test the spirit is: i want to see you or anyone that claims this power to raise the dead. you cannot becuse you have no such power...

@solidust23 We do though! It's not from us, but from the Holy Spirit. John 14:12-14 says that we will do greater things than Jesus did and whatever we ask in His name will be given to us. Luke 24:49 says we will be clothed with God's power. Jesus only did what He saw the Father do, and we are supposed to live as Jesus did. So if God tells us to raise someone from the dead or heal the sick, we should. God has used many people i know to heal the sick. God's power is real here and now.

@mattblader yes Gods power is real, but you never raised anyone from the dead, you must understand this. you may speak in tongues which is one of the fruits of the spirit, but you have not raised anyone from the dead. seek charity my friend... speaking in tongues perhaps, but the actuall power of the holy spirit- dnt think so, if you say you have this then raise the dead, thats what paul did...

@solidust23 Tongues are for believers and not unbelievers. Unbelievers don't even know what tongues are. Secondly, when one speaks in tongues, they are speaking to God in a heavenly language. Thirdly, what about miracles? Are you opposed to them, also?

@shjtyu Paul writes that tongues are for the ones who dont believe, prophesy is for the beliver and not the unbeliever- i think you got them mixed up, but anyway, my main things is that pentacostle always get upset when a pastor preaches what Pual wrote. Why is that? Paul was th one that wrote that we should not speak in tongues unless we have interpreters. praying in tongues is to be done quitly not disrupting the church.

But, I asked if you believe in them.? Many christians here in Ga., believe that these things, tongues and miracles, have been done away with. I know that this view isn't correct.

People that speek in tongues are not more holy than any other person in christ.The Holy spirit will not have some one interupt a sermon so that someone can jump on the floor. thats why in 1Cor 14 Paul writes about order in the church. there is no order when people are rolling all over church.Honestly it sounds very demonic when they do this. everything shold be with order and with interpreters

I was in a church with people who prayed in tongues all the time but they did it peacefully and quitly and never during sermons, they had total control of and did not seem crazy. beleive these people and they understoodthat not everyone will recive this gift. i wish more pentacostle churches were like these....

But the New Testament makes a division between the ceremonial law and moral law, or Torah. The ceremonial law has been abolished because its purpose was to function as the ''brides rehearsal.'' But now, the Bridegroom (Y'shua) has come, and the marrige is made, so there is no more ceremony in that sense. ''worldly christians'' are the worst kind of hypocrites.

You must be born again ''in Him,'' if not, the wrath of God abides on you (John 3). Its not that Israel was ''replaced'' by the church, rather, Israel went international (Eph 2:12; Gal 3:28;6:16; Col 3:11; Romans chaps 9-11). Israel are those who follow God. ''Jews'' do not because they reject the only way that God has decreed, that is Y'shua, He is the only way.

Thank You Dr John Macarthur,as Always. Would to God that all who are decieved with tongues-talking babble would watch this and get right with God. Relationship with God is much more than legailizm, slaying in spitit, tongues, and other nonesence. It just Grieves my heart to see people fall prey to these lies.
