Jesus (pbuh): Prophet of Deut 18:18 or God

Of course Jesus was a prophet. Jesus came in human form and spoke through God the Father, and through Him the will of the Father was expressed. Deuteronomy 18:18 is about Jesus, not Mohammad. Moreover, Genesis 17:15-21 makes it clear even more clear that Mohammad could not have possibly been the Moses-like prophet spoken of in Deut 18:18 because he did not:

1) Speak the words that God put in his mouth;

2) Speak with God face to face; and

3) Perform miracles, signs, and wonders.

But Jesus did!

Yes. Jesus were informing them that they too are "gods". But He's not denying that He is God's unique Son. Also it is still the reason why they wanted to kill him.

If you read the last verse Jesus (pbuh) clarifies "Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, 'I am God's Son'?"" The Blasphemy was claiming to be God's son (Not God), which the Jews understood who anyone sent from God would be. This is not a divine title. Peace, fot

I am surprised you say that the term son of God that the Jews know used for Gods Messengers is somehow different in meaning when they use it for Jesus (pbuh). Why? God decides who is or is not the Messiah, son of God. That Jesus (pbuh) claimed that he was the Messiah (and they obviously didnt accept that) is his making himself God. Are you implying then that, Jesus IS the Father?? That is an ancient heresy, if you hold that position. Besides, the Jews don't apply this interpretation. Also, the fact that the NT doesn't even use this passage shows that it wasn't considered a 'proof text'. You would have thought Matthew of all Gospels would have at least made reference to it.

It is interesting that Jesus (pbuh) does use other names for God such as Eli (for example) would this negate the speaking in the name of God?
