Plus Kentucky did not get the best player at each position in 2009. They got 2 of the 3 best players in Wall and Cousins , but Orton and Bledsoe were top 25 recruits and could of very well slipped into the 2nd rnd of that draft because they were not top 10 talents in high school nor good enough from an nba standpoint to be the best at their positions.

From his high school senior season at Word of God and on everyone knew he was going to Kentucky. Orton was a Gillespie recruit and based on the fact Xavier Henry was committed to Cal when he was at Memphis then jumped to Kansas once Cal left for Kentucky tells me that Cal did not get everyone he wanted.

You didn't , you got Cousins who it was debatable if he was better than Favors at the C position and you got Wall who was the best overall player in the class of 2009. Cal had Henry committed to Memphis and wanted him to commit to Kentucky after Cal bolted for Kentucky. He did not get him to follow and wanted him very badly because he was the one player that was a top 10 recruit and a very good shooter.

Pretty much gives all the proof and logic you need to prove that Kentucky did not get every single player they wanted in 2009. If that was true Xavier Henry would of been a Wildcat and not a Jayhawk , and maybe your 2009 team could of made it farther having one guy that could consistently make long jump shots. Orton and Bledsoe(especially Orton) had no reason to be 1st rnd picks.

They had no allegiance or interest in anything other than Cal. If he stays at Memphis you don't get any of those 2009 guys. Just the way it is with kids and especially kids that play for Cal.

But yeah kids follow coaches first and foremost , that was why Knight was trying to only sign financial aide forms this summer because of the rumors going around Cal going back to the NBA. And you do realize it was Memphis! People in Memphis don't want to be in Memphis. So why would you go to college their other than to have Cal get you to the NBA in one year.

Cal's only final four team at Memphis had a lot of juniors and a couple of seniors , along with rose so a nice mix of younger talent and experienced guys is the way to go for sure.
