Just the title alone got me, I knew exactly what you meant. My first passion is dancing and I understand that my body and movements are the vision; they tell the story. However, I love to sing as well, so to relate "make the song visual" to something I know I"m missing when I sing was very helpful. Keep making these videos because not only do we need help with technique we need someone to speak about what we should emote as we are singing.
whatever voice you have be true to yourself my voice is more mellow too but sometimes you dont need acrobatics or power notes to hit home with your audience just feel what you sing
this video touched me because im applying for Young Arts national advacnement of the arts for highschool students aged 16-17 and one of their MAJOR requirements for singers is to be able to CAPTIVATE their audience and interpret the song to the audience with emotion. I have a tough time with that because I get shy and i don't want to feel vulnerable to ppl because my self esteem is not where its supposed to be
Going through a bunch of your videos lately. Your comments in this one reminds me of when I asked blues singer Paul Rishell how he approached a song. He said, "I just get out of the way." I loved that.
@justaprogressiveone Thank you so much for that feedback! I sooo appreciate it. And yep, the shower is where my best ideas are born...go figure...HA HA HA!!! =)
Oh My Gosh thanks so much for the advice. I also have a question, what does it mean when people "say the color of your voice"? is it like an Aura or something? I don't get it. =D
I wanted say this, I was told I have an annointing on my voice when I sing. But I dont have the stage presence. My friends are gospel rappers and they work the crowd a lot. I usually just move minimum and sing. I was thinking as an actor should I act like Im a character in a movie and then work the crowd. But it wont be the real me. Does that make since
GOSH! This has to be the most inspirational video I've seen when it comes to vocal technique. I just had an epiphany.

lol this video was for me! You really do have to feel what you are singing or the performance will lose momentum, then you crash and burn.
