I have eaten them here in the US. I didn't cook them like you have described, I'll have to give it another go soon. Yeah, tolerence, I eat kosher and people look at me in horror when I tell them I eat grasshoppers and yet they eat shrimp or pork.
@OKBushcraft you know why? because these are insects, that we are around daily. they arnt in the ocean where we dnt see them are they. we are around dogs, cats, snails grasshoppers frogs. but ppl eat them, and u know what others do? say they are sick. and thats right they are sick, animals that actually have meat on them like cows and such are worth killing and eating but when u kill it just to see what it tastes like and everyone does it, its sick. your sick.
take the snail meal or escargot 4 example, it is a delicacy in France but u would have to drag an African man or woman by force to touch those things. so u see? each culture has its own favorite food which may not be palatable to people of another culture. the moral of this comparison is that magic word--tolorance!
fried grasshopper or "nsenene" are an African delicacy--they are caught during their season, dewinged and have their legs cut off or simply wrung off. next they are boiled in water. u then take them out of water and fry them with spices of yr choice. they are very very delicious to those used and grew around Kampala and other parts of Uganda. try some when u visit Uganda---u will be surprised at their delicacy and probably hooked 4 life!
