  • omg,beautiful...

  • I forgot about this tune. This is the kind of song I like to hear show up on the radio about once a year, like it does. It’s funny how the singer has a full blown stache going on here.

  • @dakjargen He doesn't have a mustache...

  • i'm seeing them live on friday in barie ontario!!! i can't wait for it

  • @habman9279 Hells yea!

  • Legendary!

  • Is this clip from Hein TV? I wish there was a way to tell...

  • Sloan's drummer is their only modest member, super nice dude.

  • he's full of himself, as evident in most videos

  • such a nice song

  • Man, you know all the lyrics...

  • @realfreakaynaughtay Are we thinking the same thing right now, bape?

  • @theused321 Same thing everyday, bape!

  • @realfreakaynaughtay it was "oh you know ALL the words..."

  • That Bass player with the greasy brown hair has a high opinion of himself! What a fucking nimrod he is!

  • @metalslut1 did he fuck you and leave town or something?

  • What's with the crazy lack of Youtube views? I remember the first time I saw/heard this. The blue background and the throwback aesthetic. I was instantly hooked. Thankfully Twice Removed did not disappoint one bit.

  • oh herro you definitrty asian. dank you prease

  • @sracer0510 Oh hello, you're definitely a douche bag. Thank you please.

  • this worst song ever what is wrong with everyone if this is canada's best then oh my god you need help

    Can I think Consolidated's okay?

  • They played in Buffalo NY on Chippawa st I think in 1990 and did this song.

  • 3 cans of water provokes me

  • @heartshaped10 Isn't it 3 cans of water perverts me?

  • Murph stills plays that bass to this day! Classic

  • This song is a classic. Just love everything about it.

  • thanks for the gay ass logo obscuring the first 30 seconds of the video. wtf?

  • First time I saw Sloan I managed to get back stage. Then smoked a joint with the band! Ha I was 14...sweet guys, great band

  • first time i saw sloan was 96 at le rendezvous in winnipeg - they all had flu and there was some serious stage barf - but we all chatted about creation records and our love of the brits

  • Comment removed

  • @superframus i miss le rendezvous. I saw the bosstones there in 97 or 98 and it was one of the best shows of my life.

  • one of the best songs of all time...

  • HEIN TV

  • Great song, great band, look forward to seeing them at v fest this weekend

  • Get well Chris!!

    You guys rock.

    AJ from Toronto

  • Brilliant CND band! Saw them play live for free at NPS in Toronto a few years ago. Way to go boys!!

  • ha he reminds me of my friend remy

  • your friends first name isnt adam by and chance is it?

  • nope

  • Makes other bands seem superficial

    cute geeks,very appealing

  • Twice Removed is one of the best Canadian albums EVER made. It's up there with Harvest and After The Gold Rush for me.

  • Agreed!

  • @timmyboy1970 Twice Removed is NOWHERE NEAR Neil Young's music and not even close! The Bass player is a fucking nimrod who really loves himself excessively!

  • @metalslut1 I play hockey with Chris - one of the funniest, down to earth guys i've ever known. So, Metal Slut (ahaha) in 2007, 600 music journalists, retailers, musicians and disc jockeys of all ages, from all parts of Canada submitted a list of 10 favourite Canadian albums released between 1957 and 2007. Guess what? Sloan's Twice Removed at #14.

Back to your Nickelback collection now Metal Slut.

  • @timmyboy1970 - I don't know who you are, but I definitely dig your taste in music.

Three of my absolute favorite albums.

  • @timmyboy1970 No Rush? Does 2112 ring a bell? Moving Pictures? Hmm

  • @Haloplayer20 "for me" is always the operative phrase in music my friend. I grew up listening to Rush and learning guitar with Rush but as I grew older my interest in them dwindled. I loved watching 'Beyond the Lighted Stage' though and did throw in Farewell to Kings several times.......so, you know what they say, "plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose" haha.

  • @timmyboy1970 Circumstances :D

  • I`ve always wanted my first music video to be like this...

  • this song is beautiful. Sloan is an impressive band.

  • Is this lip synchronized?

  • every video is lipsynched, geez.

  • If I drink concentrated OJ

    Can I think Consolidated's OK?

It's not the band I hate

    It's their fans

Three cans of whatever irks me

Consolidated is a band. They are strong social commentators on topics such as vegetarianism, animal rights, corporate america, consumerism, etc...

Their fans have a tendency to further try to push the band's ideas, often in an obnoxious way, hence "It's not the band I hate, it's their fans".

  • he actually says "three cans of water provokes me".. like when you make a can of "concentrated OJ"

  • um i actually believe its "three cans of water PERVERTS me"

as in the water perverts or dillutes the OJ

  • Comment removed

  • Great song.

  • Damn, I forgot we as Canadians could make such good music

  • @leftwingrightwing well I do think Billy Talent, Metric, Tegan/Sara...are holdin their own for the current time - 3 days grace writes good songs too...I'm not mad at the new breed - but Sloan definitely should be putting out material more often

  • Goddamn, this song is good!!! Makes me proud to be Canadian (amongst many many many other things!!!)

  • fuckin'shoulda ruled the world !!!!

  • Chris Murphy is GOD.

    Please do me?

  • VONTRAMP!! lmao

  • HAHAHA

    you're fucking FUNNNYY.

    come on, grow up.

    Thankssss.

  • wow have a sense of humour.... if i was trying to hurt you I'm sure i could do better!! haha ;)

  • This is a damn good song.

  • This song rocks ... It reminds me when I used to go check out the gigs in Halifax and the uniqueness of their shows ....

  • jesus christ this song is good

  • Twice Removed and One Chord to Another were awesome albums

  • !

I always thought they were referring to Nirvana. The band was allowed to read through fan mail sent to Nirvana (thus 'Penpals'), while they were signed to Geffen.

Also, I can't find any records of this but I've got this memory of Courtney Love at the time saying something like "It's not the band I hate, it's their fans" in the time following Cobain's death.

The song also fits Lennon's death. Both losses deeply hit the music scene at their respective eras.

  • wow, those are some cool explanations, i just like the song, i didn't realize it could have so much meaning.

  • its cause john lennon got coaxed out of the beatles by yokoono.

  • i have a theory that this song is about John Lennon.

  • not gonna elaborate on that??

  • lol well i know that their big fans of the beatles and the lyrics it all seemed to happen so fast - the news of his death spread fast. Will you ever believe the way he passed away - he was murderd my a duranged fan.

I saw his widow speak on her fortune - yoko ono made a public announce ment the next day.

  • It's not the band I hate, it's their fans Band being the Beatles and all the fans crouded around lennons home after the news of his death got out.

Three cans of water perverts me - Three members of the Beatles left ( Paul , George and Ringo).

  • thats interesting, id like to hear you explain it

    consolidated oj?

  • He's referring to the band Consolidated and their fans. Consolidated was an anti-consumerist socialist group, so he's asking if he can still think the band is ok even though he drinks concentrated OJ.

If I recall, Chris once said this song was a wordplay exercise, not a narrative. I'd agree with that.

  • i like this explination... sounds like something chris would write... i dont think chris would ever write about john lennon. PS they all dug the stones more than the beatles.

  • And the joke is when he awoke his body was covered in Coke fizz.

  • typical ignorant foreigner.

way to make yourself look like a jackass mojo. bravo.

i'm not gonna even bother arguing with you

  • this is my new fav band

  • This is my kind of band/song/music video.

    Old school.

  • I drink concentrated O.J.

    I think it's O.K.

  • 'It's not the band I hate, It's their fans' ..soo true.

  • Yes, one of the best lyrics ever.

  • Excellent

  • I heard this on the radio, and it's been driving me crazy trying to find out the bad. When I found out it was Slone, I was just like NO WAY! I can't get enough of this song. LOVE IT! And yes, I also drink concentrated OJ. :)

  • Classic Sloan......

  • Chris Murphy looks stunningly attractive in this video. Actually, they all look fantastic. Tied with Lines You Amend as my favourite Sloan video.

  • I too drink concentrated OJ.

  • @doubleagame I use to.

  • I drink concentrated OJ.

  • Bring back the 90's!!! Sloan Rules!!!

  • One of my favourite songs of all time, and a great video. Thanks for putting this song on.

  • Awesome! I love this song!!
