i just dont get throwing on dirt. if the shoe is wide open but 5 or 6 feet short, it'll still slide on for a ringer. i pitch on clay, and im sanctioned through the NHPA , you dont have that much room for error.
@cojo45365 I agree but all our pits are baseball mix and that's readily available up here in Illinois. I am redoing my pits very soon and if I could find a place where I can get clay for them, I will be doing that. I have thrown on clay twice in 2 separate tournaments and have thrown well. (35% & 39%) That is good for me for 150 shoes and 200 shoes thrown.
That's not bad. Now put in some clay, play againt another player of your caliber or higher and throw a 50 shoe game or 40 point game. Lets see if you still reach the 75% target. Then repeat it for more games. Anyone practicing on their own can do what you just did. Sorry to be so negative, but I call this ordinary to anyone who even plays moderately.
I appreciate your passion for the game. I also agree with your remarks regarding the "girl line".....but GODOFHORSESHOES. I don't believe in God but I bet IF there is one, and he played, he wouldn't throw 75%. You should choose a different name. That is a bit off putting. The 30 foot rule is set up to bring players of all ages and gender into the sport of horseshoes. Handicaps are also set up to keep people with lesser abilities involved and having fun in leagues. Without the 30 foot rule or handicaps, i think we would have 25% less participants in leagues. Your belief in God is the same as mine so thanks for the comment and keep pitching.

@titortizjr Throwing like a "dainty girl" allows me to keep the shoe steady throughout my swing! If i swung the shoe like a guy, I would then have movement in my shoe which would make the shoe less consistent. Thanks for the post.

Too many babies and old people who expect special treatment for being old or female.If your 70 or female or 18 or under they let you pitch from a 27 foot foul line. What a joke.NHPA is mostly just rednecks that think they can pitch. The game is 40 feet, not 30. They can't seem to get that thru their heads, they all like to cheat by moving up. Also, the NHPA is the main reason that the sport is not in the olympics,NHPA rules cheapen the sport.Good pitching !
I could not agree more. We have a once a week league we play in. it drives me nuts when guys or gals can hang 60-70 % from the 30 foot mark knowing damn well they can throw from 40 feet. It is all in good fun but get f'n real with your 30 footers.

You wouldn't believe how many rude comments I had on mine.I really pissed those NHPA players off.Pitch from 40 feet or sit on the porch and watch; right.? Our league sounds alot like yours, we have tons of nhpa dudes that can throw it thru the backboard but they still move up to get the advantage,I hate cheaters.If someone is handicapped, that is different, but these dudes are just cheats.thanks for the post.
