  • I think the composer for the game Orochi Warriors drew inspiration from Mr. Sakamoto when creating this song. I can hear a little resemblance: -6phwjnWWRs

  • I loved this song in the film, and the trio even more!

  • You get videos of Cats on skateboard in 1080p and this only has 240p and its terrible audio stream....but somehow still sounds amazing

  • breath taking.

    literally breath taking.

  • Cool

  • music is not like language, it does not need to be interpretated, defined or even understood.......

yet it withhold a great power to make us cry, laugh or remind us of the past

we love you Ryuichi Sakamoto and Mr Lawrence ;)

  • @xeroixix123 Music is the most universal communication. Music are feelings interpreted into melody. Two people don't need to know the same word language to understand each other, all they need is music. Well language is a sort communication so music a language that everyone can understand.

  • I've heard this song somewhere before but I can't remember where!! absolute masterpiece I'm so glad I found it.

  • how could u dislike this?

  • @Azn4Lifez1 by pressing the dislike button

  • @Azn4Lifez1 it was probably "metal heads" most of them are leetest retards that can't appreciate any other forms of music. Yes, I am generalizing here but it holds true quite well most of the time.

  • Beautiful

  • Such an emotional piece of music by a very talanted man.....amazing.......

  • This is too powerful for words.

  • Sakamoto Ryuichi,Takeshi Kitano,Joe Hisashi, Haruki Murakami, Hayao Miyazaki, Nobuo Uematsu, Shigeru Miyamoto ... How come Japan has this much talented people ?

  • i'm 24 years old male and don't even remember when i cried last time

but one thing I know for sure: the day when this man dies I would cry like never before

  • @fix3p You dick.

  • One thing We All Know.

    Emotion

  • @244leolion Except psychopaths.

  • 0:54 <3

  • look at that wavy hair

  • This song means nothing until you see the movie.

  • @lilguy96

it still means something to me xD

  • wasnt this song in Spirited Away?

  • @MelaynaVang nope. Although I could see how you would get confused, some Japanese music is often similar to this (in a good way).

  • @MelaynaVang Nope :)

  • @MelaynaVang

One's Summer Day is the song you're talking about?

  • @LinkBulletBill

yeah it is! wow, it sounds pretty similar. its so beautiful!!!!!!!! hahahha!

    thanks!

  • I find this song soft, sad, and simply amazing. But why on earth are "trance" and "tiesto" in the tags?

  • Such a good mix of emotion and puriety.

  • bellissimo...

  • i love joe hisaishi's asian dream song and it feels so...right. it had a bit of most asian cultures, missing my own really since i come from a group that not a lot of ppl know about but i didn't care because it told me so much about unity between asian cultures. if people really want to understand asian culture through music, listen to asian dream song by joe hisaishi.

  • and yes i'm asian and i love asian cultures and understand many ones, especially the south east asian ones, not just the typical chinese, korean and japanese that people seem to be obsessed with nowadays. i think ppl forgot laos, cambodia, thailand, malaysia, vietnam. a whole slew of them.lets not forget the tribes between these borders as well. watching the movie i realized just how different asians are from caucasians. i didn't like how asians were portrayed as "bad" or stuck in their ways.

  • i don't think this song is sad at all, but understand ppl have their own interpretation. i think ppl are mistaking the softness for sadness. i think it is humility and tenderness and the ability to realize oneself and existence and life and that achieving it is long, tedious and scary and this questions if its worth it. i think it understands that ppl have their own cultural values while at the same time, taking a stand that they will follow their own values even if they are wrong or in pain.

  • @immaturegirl91 great comment! :D

  • This song is so beautiful.. :] I can't help it replaying...

  • i hope this guy sticks around EVERY Christmas to play this.

  • what is the story of mr. lawrence, who is he?

  • @gulahfoo87 He's a lieutenant. The story isn't exactly about him. it's about the relationship between him and three other men in a japanese prisoner of war camp.

  • absolutely wonderful...

  • AS THE TEARS ROLL DOWN MY FACE I REALIZED THAT i just came

  • Agreed agreed agreed

  • I had to listen to that 5 times in a row, once was not enough.

  • Does this have any connection to Studio Ghibli films?? I hear it and that's what I automatically think of but I can't find what film it was in.

  • @aliceharrold Nope it doesn't. It's from Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence, though you're not the first to think it sounds like Joe Hisaishi's compositions for Ghibli films.

  • oh god the piano.... so percussive i can hear the noise of the impact against the wood.

    but great piece anyway.

  • This is a breath taking piece of music.

Please check out my new Christmas song, The Christmas Light by Paul Mayo.

It is a charity download out soon. Just trying to remind people the true meaning of Christmas.

  • Haha you cant even see the dislike bar!

  • This wake me up.

  • It's amazing!

  • very very nice........

  • @ninjacupcake2000 serious? That's pretty dope!

  • just one question how does this relate to christmas?

  • @blueangelslife its from the movie merry christmas mr. lawerence

  • I love this music I heard it on the radio and thought i have to listen to this again and again!!! its so moving and beautiful it makes you float filled with passion.

  • I listen to allkinds of music but I've got to admit that japanese composers made their own league,

  • learning this for piano!!!

  • you know maybe its insane but in some moments melody reminds somewhatlike chine in her eyes by moderntalking

    or maybe they took it

  • Love! i searched the movie cause of utada did a little research about it and in the end i absolutely loved it! now i want to read the book

  • maravillosa

  • awesome its stunning

  • MAGNIFICO !!!

  • preciosísimo.

  • I literally cannot BELIEVE what I used to listen to after hearing this.

  • "The first time I heard of music." A stunning beautiful music piece.

  • Comment removed

  • It's nice to hear the original for once. Although I also like the trance version Watergate - Heart of Asia, nothing can touch the original piano piece.

  • I want this played at my funeral.

  • I absolutely love this song, but it does sound extremely similar to Tom Jobin's "Pela Luz dos Olhos Teus."

  • Where have I heard this song beforee

  • I listen to the heaviest hardcore music possible. Just absolute beatdown and brutal shit, but this song still always makes me sad and changes my perspective on music every time I listen to it.

  • @UpstateVideos wow, I really do appreciate the comment you put. I actually feel glad knowing that music like this can touch the hearts of people with very different perspectives haha... although I do not know who you are, I respect you for putting something like that down

  • @PeeteZa

Thank you. I honestly believe this song is just a prime example of how music truly is universal and it doesn't matter what religion, race, culture, etc you come from, a beautiful song can touch anyone.

  • @UpstateVideos it is not sad :). You don't quite have a grasp or understanding of the Asian culture...

  • @TheWisemonkey8 The thing about this kind of music, and any type of music, is that people can interpret it as how they see it or want. That is one of best things about it.~

  • @TheWisemonkey8 im asian, i still think is sounds a little sad. music is different for everyone, and thats why its wonderful

  • @UpstateVideos You're a legend. Good music always transcends personal taste.

  • Why do I find a strong similarity to Claire de Lune?

  • @NIGGUHNIGGUH123 Ryuichi Sakamoto has said that Debussy is his main influence.

  • gives me chills. <3

    purely amazing.

  • evey time,every special feeling

  • I dont have a long emotional ralationship with this movie, because im just 14.

And yet, three weeks ago, when my dad told me to watch the movie, I felt how powerfull it is at the end. For the next week I could not stop thinking about it, and untill this day, im trying to convince teenagers to watch the movie. No succses... God, teenagers are stupid...
