25 frets - well 24 is the clasic octave to octave deal but the pentatonic box says why not 25 so you can solo in the D blues box up top vs. the C# box with 24 frets . More songs ae in D then C# so you would technically get more soloing on the top end of the neck if you had a Reason to do so -
Actually, a guitar like this only takes about 80 hours to build, including assembly, setup, and finishing. That's 2 grand. The hardware including pickups should only cost about $600. $150 for a case, a guitar like this should only cost about $2800. At least, that's what I charge.
@MrGuitarWhisperer your a better man then me - it took about 120 hrs. to build and it has a Brazilian rosewwod fingerboard add 200 bucks - but it is one of a kind and then ther is the name inlay which took about 4hrs. this is a custom neck through - the neck attaches to the bridge and it also has binding on the body -
I have to comment on the prices of a guitar like this. I build & repair guitars and I see where the work goes. Let's say this guitar took one month to build. that's 160 hrs. A cheap shop price of $25 per hr comes to $4k. We haven't bought the woods, hardware or electronics. Do you think a craftsman like this would work for $10 an hr? I don't. So for $5 - $10k you get to choose everything that goes into that instrument & is truly hand made. I don't know this person, but the work seems top notch
@MrUltraworld yeah - it's all hand done you know so it took me 2 months but I was building sevearl all at once so youre right - a factory built guitar with CNC would be cheaper - It's not like I make money at these builds I just try not to lose money - !
@lovescarguitar absolutely 1 Thanks for your compliments ! These neck thrus are trully one of a kind - liike a super build ala. gibson and fender neck thru semi hollw strat with gibson korina and fender quartersawn maple brazillian rosewwod etc ! If you want one from Johnny He will make you a custom at about 3600.00 bucks contact johnny tsak @ hotmail . com - thanks
@JohnnyTsak316 It's not a problem at all. I was just asking. You should definitely consider pushing your guitars. I would buy them. And I think in the future I might come to you with a request for a custom guitar. Because I really like the attention to detail you put into them.
Awesome piece of work! I like the Strat design, but, with the neck through body one piece construction. It's gotta have some sweet sustain to it! Can't wait to hear it. Also, the split humbucking pick ups. Nice touch.
@TheGuitarjerry1126 Thanks - it is really an awesome guitar playing wise as well as tone - Im really happy with this axe I just need to record it on video !
@gilligog It's easy to tune faster if you must while your playing with the tuners on the same side as your playing hand - I think it looks better also .
@OddTimeMan I hear ya ! This is an awesome build but this one goes for about 3700.00 the brazilian Neck through starts at 10 grand but I am gonna do a tree of life inlay on the Body and a solar system on the neck to dress it up to about 30 grand - thanks for your interest .
@OddTimeMan i hear you but until you play a guitar like that you just can't imagine the different feel, and of course the most important thing, the tone. i have built a couple of warmoth guitars for myself and others and in no way are they on the same caliber as an instrument like this but everyone that has played them all said they never heard or felt a guitar that good. my thing is i take particular care in the wiring and sheilding of the electronic compartment, meticulously lined with copper
@scottfree6 ....continued from previous....shielding and every metal part of every component is also covered with a special rubber coating. every solder connection is absolutely perfectly with precise amounts of solder as not to change the resistance anywhere in the series of controls and components, along with a few other wiring "secrets" i have learned through trial and error to improve tonal quality. additionally i take particular care in prepping the frets to a smoothness of a babies...lol
@scottfree6 ....continued from previous....intonation, action, fastening of the neck to the body (i have a few tricks there as well) and some minor customization inlays and such for personalization purposes. i don't "make" the necks but i take them and add a quality to them unique to my design. i use bare knuckles, lindys, dallens, and a few other super high qquality p/ups. one of these you would be in the area of 7 grand.guitar building is tedious time consuming work, but the payoff's tone:)
@scottfree6 I've played & owned a lot of guitars over the past few decades...I've even built a few myself. And I used to sell guitars at a couple of different music stores in the '80's and then again in more recent years. Some of my favorite guitars ever were NOT the most expensive! And I currently own a $600 Korean-made Dean Cadillac that I like BETTER than my Gibson LP. It feels/plays/sounds/looks like it cost thousands.
That is so beautiful! Well done! I'd love to see your tone test video, what bridge did you put in? Please check out my guitar rebuild and future builds. Google Woodstock Symmetrical Strat it's on an Ibanez forum.
@amplitudedude77 Sounds amazing ! better than I could've hoped for ! The sound check will be in a few weeks for this It's done and sounds just amazing !
Just wondering, what are your thoughts about the great "Finish Debate"; regarding the differences between nitrocellulose and the more modern, high tech "polys"?
More to the point, if you could magically "clone" the guitar in your video, finish one with nitro, and the other with poly, what would you predict the difference to be? How noticeable would it be? If we did a blindfold test on you, how confident would you be that you could actually tell which was which?
@jeffkosmo The finish debate is an honest question and here is my take on that . Poly is longerlasting and seals the guitar completely it will be probably sealed for 250 years from now or even longer and never change and it is harder to scuff up than Nitro . That also is the problem with Polyurethane - it's like putting your guitar permantly in a piece of plastic and the jury is allrerady back by most builders that even though nitocellulose is harder to apply properlyit allows it to breathe .
@JohnnyTsak316 I could tell you the difference blindfolded and I will make a video so that you can hear it too ! Here is the best part : as your guitar ages it WILL sound better and better like 10 - 20 - 30 years from now as it begins to degrade it will sound better than it did orignally thus the magic of Lacquer wins the tone war !- and if you scuff it up - no worries you can buff out nitro again and again to a certain piont to fix marks or scuffs though most people dont do that . Thanks
You have 2 really nice builds going there.Love the grain of that Limba.Looking forward to more vids on them and want a sound sample when they are done.

@MrGuitarWhisperer I use no premade parts, either, it is all by hand from scratch (except for the pickups and hardware).
