You guys don't know shit, you say "trusted by users all around the world" if your supporting clear wire internet service no your not. all that company does is steal money from toughs who can't afford faster internet. Meaning you, Tweaktown are not a reliable source of information and are lying to the people who you say trust you.
So many commentors are paranoid. During the peak usage hours more folks are trying to use the clear service so the bandwidth gets crowded and speeds slow down. There's not some evil tyrant with his hand on a knob dialing you back.
You don't have to be NEXT to a tower, but you do have to be in their coverage area. On the main floor of my house, I get 2/5 dots, and about 1 mbit downloads. If I take the $65 Clear Spot 4G biscuit upstairs, I get 3/5 dots, and about 2 mbit down. In my boat on Utah Lake I get 3-4 dots and up to 6 mbit down. At the office (0.2 miles from the tower, but I'm in the basement), I get 4-5 dots and 5-7 mbit down. Upload speeds are typically between 10-20% of download speeds.
Do not buy clear(clearwire) you can listento this guy and be fooled but they cap my speed all the damn time afternoon and evening. I cannot even play Left4Dead or BfBC2 with out it being a 300 ping or close to that. DONT BUY CLEAR!!!.
1/3 of the US population are suckers. 80 a month for a service that randomly cuts out and a max download speed of 80KB/s is NOT a great service. A great service is $60 for 22Mbps and actually getting it.
This stuff is absolute garbage. They sold us their sucker punch "unlimited" plan at 4G speeds and I hardly ever even see 1Mbps download speeds. For those who don't know, 1 Mbps = 128 kilobytes / second. When trying to cancel the service the tech said I didn't know what I was talking about.
@YoungBeastYB007 seriously man, im reading comments saying their speed is over 2mb a sec, i can barely get 1mb after i clean my disks and clear caches
Lol I love it. I got this new Sony VAIO with 4G WiMAX, and its awesome. My normal wifi is sooo slow and It took me 8hrs to download a game, while with WiMAX about an hr. XD And it was free for me because it went with my laptop. <3
i have the rover service which is clears prepaid version of 4g and its great... the rover puck is only $150 and the plans run $5 a day, $20 a week and $50 a month...and all is unlimited just check to see if your area is covered I have comcast for home internet and its the best the rover is for when i travel and also for facetime calling on the go.
@RonPaulRocket; ROFLOL wow you do not even know what you are talking about at all. shut up before you hurt your self. Wi-MAX has been around for 10 years N00b. So how is that a one hit wonder? When it has lasted a decade already in the tech world? Wow nice to be a little newbie huh....its based on the IEEE 802.16m spectrum kid. And you are calling this a one hit wonder. Oh and just for the record IEEE 802.16m which is Wi-MAX started in June 2001.
This company sucks so hard, slow unreliable service, horrible customer service, false advertising, and even worse business practices. TRUST ME, YOU DO NOT WANT TO USE THIS SERVICE! Two year contract, plus penalty fees if you try to cancel due to shitty service.
@crazyoverwii 100% guarantee they will NOT send "firmware". they will direct to a "software" download site; not firmware. Firmware works in all cases. I never said ANYTHING about CLEAR relations. my method will work, I promise. I would use MY method of fixing it.
i got ehe clear modem in basically seatttle becouse im so close and it made everything faster even for us xbox360 plyers the only thing is that for some games it has its limits
@ballogni lol @ that statement. it's funny how people say stuff like this with nothing but vague implications.
"buy levi jeans.... because uh... they're better?"
is the equivalent to what you just said in a levi ad for CLEAR vs. att/comcast. Clearwire is a new company so it's ALWAYS beneficial to the CONSUMER until they get bigger. just like Dell... their computers were SUPER cheap at first, they gained brand recognition and... BAM. price increase on the same product.
why would they be ANY different than ANYONE else? on and I'm sure their CEO is just like Mr. Burns...
"everyone got just got mobile internet (easier, simpler, 100% portable) FASTER than most connections (save the minority, but they pay LOADS more usually) and cheaper! EEEEEEXCELLENT.... *maniacally squints eyes*"
yeah, really evil right there. WTF is wrong with people.... jeebus. it's like sometimes people don't match up reality with opinion on PURPOSE.
clear said it works but i heard from alot of people that it does NOT work on any macs, im confused and stuck, should i take the chance and get the service?
I use Clear 4G service at home, at work, and at customer locations. The service itself and coverage are phenomenal and for the few issues I have had, Customer Care has been incredibly responsive and truly seems to care about the overall experience. I felt like my issue was taken seriously and that the agent was genuinely motivated to resolve my issue and ensure that I was very satisfied as a customer. I highly recommend Clear to anyone looking for an excellent, stable provider!
@blakasassin1 crack = life devastating drug. i know ZERO crack users that use/have the internet... let alone have the patience or desire to post a Youtube comment.
They're currently involved in a lawsuit for false advertising that alleges their internet speeds are about as fast as 56k dial up. Clearwire is terrible.
@publicanimal wait... WHAT? remember folks.... don't EVER repeat what you heard from someone else unless you experienced it... people both lie AND make mistakes /misremember details. true story.
@publicanimal then why is their business expanding exponentially? also, they own 95% of the bandwidth allocated by the FCC (the legal, federally regulated entity that gives people the rights to broadcast A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G). how COULD they go out of business? google, intel, cisco, Sprint all own market shares.... your statement is so biased and not based in reality it makes me sad.

2 year contract?
I have clear internet service that I purchased from best buy. . .
I didn't need a 2 year contract just 50$ up front, 50$ for every month.
Simple!
The highest speed I received was 3.1mph
Which is good for my laptop, I play 3d games, stream netflix, youtube, imvu, I'm good. . .
225mb file downloading, it only takes 10 minutes.
