  • they were fucking stoned as helll

  • Great Song ....

  • WHAT A SHAME MARY JANE WHAT A SHAME MARY JANE ALL TOGETHER NOW

sheesh john why do you have to haunt me with these horribly creepy ''songs''

What's the New Mary Jane and Revolution 9..

  • Very reminiscent of "Flying" ....While it still flew, but in reverse gear that is...

  • This song is absolute rubbish. However, why Revolution 9 got on the album and this didn't, is a mystery. While this is nonsense, at least there is a melody and structure of sorts. Revolution 9 is just a mess.

  • That is so creepy :O

  • The second half scares me...

  • Awesome ....

    The Beatles Forever !!

  • one of my favorite...

  • cool

  • This was with Syd Barrett - who founded Pink Floyd, which is why it sounds like this.

  • @ForeverTreesGreen maybe influenced by...but not with

  • reminds me of "wild honey pie" somewhat. I love it, ohh, John

  • Just John, George and Yoko fucking around in the studio. Not bad but its weird as shit.

  • @theLazyiestTurtle Come on it's cool

  • this song is scary in the woods!!!!!!

    EVERYTHING FUCKING MOVES

  • Never heard this song!

  • If they'd replaced Revolution 9 with this I wouldn't have to scramble for the forward button on my iPod soon as Cry Baby Cry ended.

  • @SmashKai SACRILEGE!

  • @SmashKai EXACTLY

  • @SmashKai good point!

  • @SmashKai i know i cant even listen to a bit of that

  • Dammit, everybody lied to me. Drugs do work!

  • Not inspired by Syd - just strays into Syd/Floyd territory, especially once John and Yoko have finished the overdubs!

  • *Monty Python Officier Graham Chapman enters the room* Things have gotten too silly. So we would like to continue with *John Cleese enters the room* something completely different.

Joking aside though, this is one trippy song. Love it <3

  • Queen says no to pot smoking FBI members

  • this song is about vanilla donuts

  • @msanm5 what?????????

  • weed weed weed weed weed weed weed

  • this was not inspired by Barrett as far as any source I can tell.

  • was this really inspired by syd barret?

  • @DaRkSymphoniCa Yes, but a couple of years before Barrett appears on the music scene....and if you listen carefully you´ll hear inspiration by the Cure, and Radiohead too.

  • @DaRkSymphoniCa

    syd loves

  • @say10hailmarys lol

  • what were they on??

  • O_o

  • creeepy what a shame mary jane and a pain at the Parrrrty... you excpect him to say "potty" instead of parrty because he's english eeel oooo eeeeeeel

  • creeepy

  • ...

  • can anyone believe that many people thought this as a unreleased classic.

  • OBSCURE!

  • The only bad part of this was Yoko's screaming!!

  • @beatlesfan464

Ha ha, are you kidding? Yoko's screams was magnificent! At times, they don't even sound like screams, but an instrument...

  • @beatlesfan464 Yoko is basically "vocalising a Don Preston-esque moog synthesizer part". Think of it that way and it all makes sense.

  • this is a little creepy... I'm glad they left this off the album.

  • Pwarty

  • I read on Wikipedia that this was originally supposed to be on the White Album, but they decided against it. Well, it's fun and all, but I'm glad they left it off the album. I think it would've kind of ruined the flow. And the White Album already gave us "Revolution 9" to endure, which I always skipped, even at the height of my Beatles obsession. If this had been on the album, after once or twice, I'd probably have skipped this one too.

  • Mary Jane :X

  • Compared to the demo, this is fail.

  • Oh Boys... :D

  • This is DEFINITELY NOT the Anthology 3 version - it sounds better.

  • "That was me, Yoko, and George sitting on the floor at EMI fooling around. Pretty good, huh?"

LMAO And this is all john had to say about it! IT'S BLUDDY BRILLIANT!

  • I FUCKING LOVE THIS SONG

  • this is what pot does and I love it :)

  • I wonder if this has any "Paul is Dead" references... since it seems to be nonsensical.

  • @RpKingman paul has always been alive and well, silly

  • This is so syd barrett sounding right?

  • @DarthNorris84 Yeah for sure. Influenced by Piper I am 100% sure

  • aaaaahhh! no! stop. screaming!!

  • i used a youtube to mp3 website to download this song. and it gave me a 48 minute version? and its amazing haha

  • @omgcamlolz Hi mate - I am in Australia laughing. I wondered about this sonng imn the 80s and a shop riht in Cebtral Square in Melb had a 10" boot of it. They put it onb - ober the PA -= Ot was removed very , very quickly!! Haha

  • @eppeywonder you're trying too hard to be stereotypical.

  • Can you 'imagine' how this would have sounded if fully worked out and G.Martin produced-same with 'Not Guilty'-they simply had too many songs-maybe the white album should have been 3 discs!

  • What's the New Mary Jane?, Revolution 9 and Revolution 1 take 20... very avant-garde!!!

  • And I thought Revolution 9 was weird! All the same though, I think it's pretty brilliant.

  • I Think nobody noted that this is the original 1968 mix for the White Album, and not the one that Anthology presented.

  • I. Love. This.

  • She like to be married with yeti

    He's cooking cookie spaghetti

    :)

  • @ToxicTurquoise454 i know this is weird ;)

  • WHAT WERE THEY ON!?!

and where can i get some?

    XD

  • @Dannolgorski the title tells it all - mary jane (hope you know what does it mean in slang, if not - google it)

  • @Dannolgorski LSD. no joke xD

  • @Dannolgorski Uhhh...it's called weed? Ask your friends?

  • @MrTamuren and LSD XD

  • @Dannolgorski Mary Jane

  • @Dannolgorski i think they were on "mary jane" HAHA

  • This is so weird and cute!!!

  • i think he was either drunk of possibly tripping when recording this song (1:55-2:45)

  • or worse if you get what im saying 0_o ²

  • The beatles were muscial geniuses

  • @TheLaceyChannel

Not that you'd know by listening to this.

  • @TheLaceyChannel That was pretty much just John Lennon and Yoko on this song (as well as Revolution 9)

  • @Logan912 Actually, according to a few interviews, Lennon said George Harrison was also along him and Yoko.

  • what a treat it is to listen to this.

  • I have only one real criticism about The Beatles later songs--they depended too much on that piano.

  • how many more beatles songs dont i know about? ahaha

  • This is the BBCs Sounds of the 60s Beatles A to Z song for week starting SAT23JAN10 where a short history of this song is given about 35 mins into the prog It can be heard again for 1week after Jan23

  • I can't get why The Beatles haven't released this. It's such a good song.

  • @BrawlDiscussion I think it's more of a Lennon project and not so much Beatles altogether now.

  • Yeah, although the same could be said of Revolution 9, which did get on the album.

  • @RoyFive

    Indeed Roy5, well put.

Lennon was just brilliant and Paul also loved/admired the abstract as well. Perhaps John inspired him there.

    JBirdy

  • After the split, I listened a lot to both John's and Paul's individual stuff and could easily see how much one was influenced by the other. Good examples are Paul's That Would Be Something, and John's Remember.

  • @RoyFive

Yes, even George's influence on John w/ #9 Dream, very George-ish.

  • @BrawlDiscussion it has been released it's on anthology 3

  • blazin!!!

  • What kind of pain did Mary Jane have at the party?
