'Evil' is a an opposite of 'Good' in the divine sense of the word; this is not the same as 'good and bad' which are relative concepts to one another. To say you believe someone is Evil is to imply you also believe the contrary concept of Good; or else it holds no meaning.

I hold the position that Good and Evil are useless concepts used purely by people who wish to impose their feeling of 'good and bad' onto other people's worldview. That was my point. This does not imply I hold that Good and Evil are ontological entities, but these concepts can't be held as such unless you also posit the existence of a God. Bill does not so his incorporation of these concepts into his worldview are meaningless. So when he is saying "Evil" so vehemently it means nothing and makes him look stupid to anyone who is a genuine atheist like myself and others. I do not hold Evil as a genuine force in nature.

maybe his sense of morality has somewhat of a christian influence due to his upbringing, but for the most part, i'm betting the reasons he thinks some things good and some things evil is on their own merits. like raping children, he'd probably think that evil because it harms people and in nonconsensual. no god or religion required.

@doaftheloaf No, if you posit a God then you're attempting to say something about the nature of reality. In a Christian worldview for example, they [Good and Evil] become real properties or elements; not just perceived phenomena which holds nothing other than a relative value.
If you believe God exists then something as far as you're concerned IS Good, and something IS Evil. It's not just your own thoughts and feelings that determine this. A lack of moral objectivity means God isn't a God.

My biggest problem with the Democrats is their willingness to stir up the various "victim" demographics. The sooner we get past identifying with our past pain and we decide to regard ourselves as individuals who can determine their own paths, then we'll be better off. We can certainly go on all day over these things. Needless to say, I'll not be voting for a GOP candidate come this November.
