Is this a She-mour (Semour)? Oh sorry, just saw the desc. Either way it makes me sad that more guys don't don't try out for drama. I mean, anyone could do well in a part, I'm not trying to be sexist er whatever, but it can be harder to accept the role when uh... "cross-cast". Great job tho, to all in this production! Did anyone goto a school where the drama and choir consisted of "the popular crowd" like Saved by the Bell? I always wondered when I joined the "freaks and geeks" <3 at my HS.
This is alright. A trend I've seen in most of the high school productions is to make the plant sound like he does in the movie rather than try and go for the soul found in the broadway soundtrack, which is much better than the movie. It's disappointing, really.
Check out Nevada Union's for a really good one. The plant is flat on a two notes in it, but that's really the only flaw.
My God, someone who agree's. By trying to emulate another actor, your just going to fail. Miserably. And thats why most of the people who play Audrey II suck ass.
So rather than emulating the movie, you should emulate the Broadway production? Here's an idea. Act. Make a character you can have fun with that has interesting motivations. Something you can play as an actor and go from there. Face it, people don't go to high school musicals for the singing talent. They either go because their kid's in it or they go to see the unique energy that you can't find in professional theatre.
As an actor, I agree with you. However, you've completely missed my point. I don't think he should emulate anything, I just think that the plant should sing soulfully and funky, because that's the style of music that's being played for him to sing to, and to be honest, that's how his character is written. So, yes, act, but also stay true to the the script and the music.
What you said, though, implied that the plant from the movie didn't stay true to the music and script. I thought the movie-plant's sound was a good choice. The is no right and wrong way to play the character as long as the actor takes the proper steps to prepare himself (or herself) for the part.
And to a certain extent, you're right. I think there are a large amount of ways to play a given role. However, I also think that there are objectively wrong choices an actor can make. Now, I'm not saying that those particularly were made in the movie. I just happen to not like it. But all I was commenting on earlier is that I think the choices made on broadway were far superior to those made in the movie.

Ive seen all the voices of Audrey 2 on youtube, and I mean no offence but im the best :S Not sounding modest but nobody really compares to me. Ill post videos soon when our DVD comes out.
i was the plant for my high schools production, this year. the puppet looks awesome but so constricted and yeah theres no leggings!? well theres a little bit. that was my favorite part T_T im a 5' nuttin lil girl so when i did the legs it was like spazzes...but the voice of the plant is awesome and your set sort of looks like ours, lol. and the plant is not upside down cause if you look at the manipulator curtain it is right, its supposed to look like Rocky a lil bit. our looked like a hamburger
well my plant in Feed me was like an upper jaw which my upper half on my body was in and my hands controlled the lower jaw talking and my legs were in HUGE leggings that had vines spewing off of it and i had to move my legs with me working the lower jaw. if you want to see the highlights of my performance of little shop look up murwoman on YouTube and it will say something like supplement or something like that
i went and put my hands like... as strange as this is like if you were lifting weights or about to pelvis thrustand then you just do arm crunches while keeping my upper body slump, did you check out the clips by murwoman? its called Little Shop Clips
whoa well im just saying this every plant is different because sometimes plants are lighter some are not mine was like 250lbs for the final pod. but its really rewarding, but note: LOTS OF DEODERANT(sP?)
i was the plant for my high school, and we used those same plants (the designer, marty robinson, commissioned one company to mass produce them, which is why everyone uses them if theyre rented), and it is definately upside down. also, why didnt you use the vine leggings? that adds so much more to the song, especially the "does this look inanimate to you?" part.
Hey, that's the same plant I was using. You're lip sync wasn't bad, but you simply weren't big enough in terms of emoting. And Seymour was way too fast, although he did some good emotion.
Did it get hard to move alot in that thing as the song goes on? My arms were dead by the time Seymour was done with the "I don't know..." bit.
Oh really? Funny, because I did the voice of Audrey II back in high school, and have seen various incarnations since. Let me tell ya, that plant is most assuredly UPSIDE DOWN.
Annnnd...there are SEVERAL different plant puppets. It could be that none of us know what THAT particular plant just looks like that when it is right side up. Ours, considering it only fit and worked one way.
NO. Really, it's not. Just because shows you've seen have had the plant at a different angle doesn't mean that's fully correct. (That's the beauty of theatre, it's all about INTERPRETATION).
And I happen to know the girl who operated the plant; it's not upside down. She's just short. XP
You need someone better operating the plant. It doesn't sync well with the words... and it's upside down. The Audrey/Orin thing is awkward, especially because there's no reaction the fact she just got slapped. Seymour has a nice tenor voice though, and that's really all that holds this scene together.

That implication was on purpose. I thought the movie was absolute garbage, personally.

I loved being the puppet in my schools production. I too am a tiny girl, and I learned in our case it was better that way.

Great job! Perfect proof that the puppeteer doesn't have to be a macho man to do great puppetry.
