  • the photo on the album was taken in the ardoyne area of belfast showing the catholic people being burnt out of ther homes

  • Well I wouldn't go that far, but thanks. I can't remember if we did this befor the album, wasn't it a B side?

  • Was that Rico on the trombone?

  • @tommyluvstraci No it was Dexys' very own 'Big' Jimmy Patterson . Absolute class

  • @MistaSid Absolute class is right. Kudos to DMRs for keeping the spirit of soul music alive in the era of punk & new wave.

  • Damn! I haven't heard this tune in over 25 years. What a geat song especially the horn arrangements. They've literally out-Stax'ed the Memphis Horns. Rowland's vocals are pure genius & so original. Hail to Dexys MRs!!!

  • Great stuff. "Searching For The Young Soul Rebels" got to be one of the greatest albums. Loved it then and loving now. Great post MistaSid

  • Great Song!!!!

  • my favourite band ever...and ever

  • gran canción!! <3 Kevin Rowland!!

  • Amazing song - the brass is pucka - when you play it now people just don't know where to look!

  • This band is a genre of it's own, inspired by punk, ska, traditonal British Isles music, but it definitely rocks!

  • My favorite Dexy's song

  • god those horns go deep inside

  • Wonderful, everything about this song is great, especially the trombone solo. Real soul.

  • HORNS from heaven, had this on in the van last week ,got some dead strange looks, cause if you have it banging out it makes the sides of the van move

  • @charliechicpea - One of THE best brass arrangements ive ever heard , you just cant help dancing to this song.

  • @charliechicpea oh yeah, but if you're gonna have something bangin' and shakin' your van, it may as well be something cool like Dexys, and not some stupid gangbang rap shit! that's all I hear around my area, it's a crime!

  • One of THE greatest songs of the past 50 years..thank you so much for this

  • @Crel1957 no problem - I agree!

  • My son's name is Desmond. His third birthday is April 28th. And this is his favo(u)rite song in the world. He loves it so much that we have a cassette of nothing but this song repeated for 90 minutes. He demands that I play it whenever i drive. I bought this record at age 12 in 1990 with a jar full of pennies, having no idea about the magnificence of its content. i merely liked its back-cover text.

  • @mollyandbenb All i can say is Desmonds has immaculate taste... cheers!

  • @mollyandbenb larff out loud brilliant story ! thanks

  • @mollyandbenb That's just brilliant! I'd love to listen to this song for 90 minutes myself...

  • Simply brill. Good on ya, mate.

  • One of the very best!

Kevin Rowland sometimes comes into my sister's shop. Hope I get to shake his hand one day and thank him for this stuff.

  • I hope you do too, I met him myself 3 years ago, been a fan for 30 years, I'd heard he was notoriously difficult to talk to but I couldn't have wished for a nicer chap. Talked to us for hours and had a great night with him, all round top bloke.

  • I met him two years ago at Brick Lane, we went out and had a chat. Greetings to Kev.
