u overcooked the fish aready. fish takes hardly 3-4 minutes to cook and u cooked the fish first. then again u fried it. its definitely going to be a dry fish cutlet.
Hmm... Never thought of cooked tilapia. I use canned premium salmon( omega 3) for my fish cakes. Instead of onions I put lots of scallions, grey poupon( a touch), cilantro, lime juice, green chillies, fresh black cracked pepper and ofcourse egg. No bread crumbs.
This is not a fish cutlet, I would say fish Vada. The authentic fish cutlet which I had in India always had egg for binding and coated with dry bread crumbs just before frying.
Thanks for the recipe. I tried it with tuna. awesome. also one time I added finely chopped fresh green spinach(cause it doesnt have to be cooked like other saag). it added some freshness and cruncies...
my apachan from Karela moved to Malaysia and get married with my grandma which is a Chinese adopted my mom which is a Chinese also....i am a Chinese too....but i loved Indian foods!! i can tell you i really hate to eat fish....but my grandpa introduce this fish cutlet to me....and i loved it ! he loves us though we are different in skin colour and adopted.....passed away 13 years ago at the age of 92 when i was only 10 years old...my dad says he wouldnt go without my news..missed him loads ='(
2 questions...could you use tuna fish instead? Also, is it necessary to add the breadcrumbs, and if so can they be the seasoned, would that change any of the seasoning that I initially put in the fish? Thanks :)
Yes, you can use tuna...fresh or canned - works well. The breadcrumbs are for binding...seasoned ones are ok to use. Change-wise...it depends on what kind of seasoned breadcrumbs you have and are using...don't think there will be a dramatic change.
We are big believers in using what we have at home and adjusting....we would say 'go for it'!
This is very simple, in comparison to what my aunt had told me. Plus, this is very healthy. Most cutlets are deep fried(and taste out of this world), but this is great alternative.
Going to try this today.
I love my cutlets with Tomchi sauce. Sooooo goood!
This is GREAT!!! Very healthy; I love that! I am always looking for recepies that can be made without much fat and I think I can even make these by using cooking spray instead of oil.
You said these would go good with a chutney; which kind would you recommend?
fish needs to be seasoned with thyme salt pepper garlic shadowbenny bandhanyaa spanish thyme black pepper lime juice for a few hours not absoloutiy not straight from the package nope not trini style
Thanx for the recipe! My friend's mother ( btw,Indian) had made this for me the other day to reward me for helping her move into her new home and I was floored how delicious this snack was. She also made Corriander & mint Chutney sandwishese and that was awesome as well. So thanks again for the recipe, I will be trying this out.
Thank you show me the curry! I attempted to make it twice! and it turned out wonderful! Thank you - Melbourne, Australia.
