As the great Coco Chanel once said,..and was quoted--- "Designers who depend on SHOCK should look at the history of fashion. Only a thing of beauty is a SHOCK FOREVER! "
Oh, and yes , maybe my mind is unclear about the history of the house of Saint Laurent, after all the books, articles, ads, and video shows ive read and seen of the this LEGENDARY MAN, maybe i read it all backwards... hi hi hi.. silly me. Oh well, at least i know the difference between what is truly beautiful and downright hideous ! The clothes you see in this video wont make it to the museum, sad to say. By the way, whats with the drug crazed chicken song at the beginning of this video ?
I think you're unclear about the history of YSL because most of your criticisms are a bit unfounded. Saying that the F/W 07 collection lacked the master's touch when in fact it referenced the collection that got YSL fired from Dior, it was inspired by the beatniks on the Rive Gauche. Bashing Tom Ford's F/W 03 collection for looking like prostitutes when it was an homage to an infamous collection by Yves himself that was ALSO inspired by prostitutes.
One of the shorter models at the end of the show could hardly walk because those shoe heels were so high for her its as if someone kicked her crotch before the show ! Tsk, tsk tsk . . . ayyay yaay . . . what a mess REALLY! We were all born original, LETS NOT DIE A COPY !
Judging from the few comments that I've seen you post in various YSL videos, it's clear that you not only are kind of unclear about the history of the house and what Yves did, but also that you believe any designer who designs for the house should just continue to churn out exactly what Yves himself did.
What would be the point of just repeating what a legend has already done instead of trying to do something new with the legacy he left behind?
Yes, your so absolutely right.I believe in moving forward but with a respectful nod to the past.I also believe in regurgitation, but regurtitated fly vomit is another thing !!! But hey listen, thats your opinion, who cares ! But if you honestly and truly believe by your convictions that YSL women should "NOW" dress this way as prescribed by the its latest "willing victim recruit",..then i strongly suggest you get one of those god forsaken outfits and wear one yourself, and post it on YOUTUBE !
well .....the white satin dress with color strars at 1:40 its 53,000 dlls....yup not a typo....thousands.....so i guess you can consider that couture!!!
Yves Saint Laurent is the master of fashion, originally working at the House of Dior Haute Couture. It was then he became the superstar in Paris with the "trapez" collection. Because of Saint Laurent, Paris once again become the fashion capital. He then opened his own House of Haute Couture and developed the "Rive Guache" (left bank,RTW). Saint Laurent empowered women with the smoking trousers, tuxedo look, safari look, peasant look, mod, cropt pant, ethnic looks, and the provokative see-through.

he does not have a couture line, however it is possible and common for any designer to use couture techniques in their garments.
